Chapter 25
BIRDIE
I shouldn’t have allowed myself to drink so much last night.
I loved every single moment last night, and the conversation just couldn’t stop flowing
And now here I am, late to work.
Of course, I knew that this woman was going to say something about it which was why I got inside and discovered she hadn’t come, yet I was happy.
I walked to the department she said I should join, and I could see different faces there.
They all seem to turn to look at me. The whole place descended with silence as I walked in.
“Good morning“1 greeted the first person I could see there, she hummed the response before walking fast to join another person.
I could see the disdain on their faces, without even having to look too far or too much,
I am swallowing hard, sometimes this is so difficult to experience, and I don’t understand why I thought they all were going to accept me at the very
“Seems we have a new person among us.” Madame, jast as she likes to be called said as she walked into the place
The rest of the place is suddenly quiet as her voice is heard.
“Good morning Madame” I smiled at her as I felt her presence behind me.
She scanned me from my head before shaking her head,
“I don’t approve of late coming, you should have known that because, of course, you were a boss of your own, and you know late coming is something that should not be permitted.” She walked past me as she walked more into the room that is where the training will take place.
Don’t tell me they all are hostile to me because I came late.
1 should try to make an explanation then.
I was late because…..
one cares, Birdie, and I mean that when I say it”
She walked to one of the girls and whispered something to her before coming to stand at the other end of the room where everyone else could see her.
“It is a new week and of course a new person. Now we all know what to do, training will be the usual time, and I don’t tolerate laziness here?
She went ahead to make a long speech that I wasn’t truly concerned about before she finished and walked away.
The noise came back on as they all were moving around, and I was still stuck in the place I was before.
“Birdie right! Come, let me show you an opening” A girl my age, blond and has the most oval face I have seen said.
She came beside me and grinned as she urged me to follow her.
I did until she stopped in front of a table that was free.
“The person here finished her training and left, which was why there was an opening for you.
But every other person here does not believe that she indeed finished when they knew that someone like you was going to replace her” she said.
I don’t understand, what do you mean, someone like me?” asked her, appalled at what she was saying
“Well…
She drew closer to me. “Humor has it that Madame sent her packing because a famous stylist like you was joining the crew, and as you can see in their faces, they all are jealous of you.” She tapped my shoulder before walking to the other side of the desk, where her place should be.
Okay, I haven’t even been here in an hour, and now I know everyone hates me here already, yep, something like this should have been avoided, but
I never knew
Now I’m working with people who did not want me to be here, how amazing

Chapter 25
“You look exhausted” I trolled into the living room while groaning so hard as I got inside.
Mattro was already in the house, as indicated by his car
He stood up so fast as he got to where I was standing while groaning,
He took the bag I was holding and held me on the shoulder.
“You should sit. He said while still holding my shoulder.
ime
He led me to the seal, and before I settled my ass, I groaned out so much.
My back aches, I have forgotten how much strength is needed before one can make a stitch.
He ran off fast as I settled down, and before I could relax, he was back in the living room, holding a bottle of water.
I am looking at him through the little strength my eyes could gather as he opened the water and handed it to me
“Here drink up, you will feel more refreshed.” He said.
I took the water from him, my eyes still on him as I took the water and closed my eyes. I drank the whole boule,
The chillers of the boule made me more refreshed, and the pain in my back suddenly eased.
“Thank you” He took the bottle from me before giving me a slow nod as he walked to the other side of the chair and settled down, his eyes still on
- me.
- e. all you need now is to rest your back, and you will be fine.”
“Do you need something else, all y
Something hard squeezed in my chest.
Something both painful and strong
ing that thing to disa
thing to disappear.
I closed my eyes, wanting
When was the last time someone ever cared for me this way?
When was the last time someone kept asking if I was okay!
“What is wrong” He was suddenly by my side before I could blink,
I raised my head to look at him and all I could feel was the emotions that crowded me.
“I am fine.” I barely let out.
The concern on his face is choking, it has an icy feeling that leaves my tongue all darts.
“I should…” I tried standing, but the pain in my back was much as I held the chair again, and this time he was holding my hand.
Talong a deep breath. I stood again, this time he was still holding me.
“I need to rest up” I shrugged his hand away from me, as I wanted to disappear from his sight.
“If you need anything. I am here” I could hear his voice as I kept walking, and the worry that came along with it
I am trying to hold my head straight as I keep walking because the tears that welled in my eyes were too much. And I never wanted him to see that,
The house smelled so nice, there was something that smelled so nice in the air as I kept walking downstairs I was breathing it in while searching for
where it came from.
It was the kitchen, I could smell it as I walked closer and now and now, s
staring at the man who stood there.
He had an apron on, his back turned to me as he hummed slowly to a song.
A very familiar tone

The way he shook his head to the tune he was humming to, there was something so familiar and impressive from the way he stood there.
I stood at the door, crossing my hand to my chest as I watched him.
I
This was a sight I never thought I would see, a sight of Matteo, standing and cooking, I never thought that would happen.
He suddenly stopped moving, turned slowly and our eyes met.
Slowly he looked up at me, and with his eyes, he held them to my face. There was something hot with the way his eyes softened as they looked at me, something inside of me charmed so hard.
My stomach twisted in knots, with the way he kept looking at me my face was suddenly hot and the blush that crept on its own couldn’t be helped.
You
are awake.” He finally said.
I tried to open my mouth to speak when he used one of his hands to fold the sleeves of his shirt.
His ripped arms are where my focus is suddenly.
The way they collapsed together, the way he looked so hot with the apron wrapped on him.
I tried to find my voice, but couldn’t. He stopped what he was doing and looked at me.
The way he looked at my chin, the redness there, the hotness shouting inside me.
“…. Um. This

stuttering too much, I better shut my mouth or better still.
“I made dinner”
Noticing my discomfort, he said, turning back to what he was doing.
1 held my chest, what the hell is wrong with me!
My chest is beating so loud, I can barely hear myself if I speak a word because the sound of my heart is in my ears.
“Little Birdie?” When I looked up, he moved closer, “Are you okay?” He touched my forehead and I moved back immediately, bad idea, Mr.
Matteo,
His n
nearness is doing so much for me. He shouldn’t have walked to this place or been this close.
“Running off, I walked to the kitchen table and settled down.
“Let’s see what you are cooking?”
I looked away from him, peering my eyes into my phone, I didn’t know how to react.
There were so many sounds in my cars and I could barely hear them.
Why do I suddenly find him so attractive!
Oh no, this is bad, so bad, and what the hell am I going to do with this newfound knowledge?
This is back
