Chapter 20
Matteo
She is leaning against the big wall in front of her father’s company, looking exhausted as her head is on the wall while she is sitting on the floor.
I rushed to where she was and shook her on the shoulder before she raised her head and looked at me.
Her eyes are exhausted, they are down as she looks exhausted, and she looks like she is about to collapse any minute of the day.
“Are you alright?” I asked, despite seeing the look on her face and knowing she
wast
Something was bugging her, she might have been here and discovered something
On my way to this place. I let so many scenarios play in my head.
I asked myself the reason her voice sounded the way it did, as many thoughts ran through my head.
“Are you alright??” I shook her again, trying to grasp why she was
the way
she was.
“I am tired. Matteo, I don’t know what to do or feel anymore.” Her words are tired as she whispers them.
She looked at me, the pain in her eyes was so visible, she was not trying to hide them away, she was openly showing me the pain she was feeling.
“Come let’s get into the car first.” I said standing up,
I took my hand out for her to take, she was slowing down as she tried to take them.
Scrunching down without thinking, I pulled her into my arm.
Balancing her straight even as she protested. I walked away from there straight to the car.
She felt so right in my arms, I held her straight and all I could think about was the safety of taking her straight to the car where she would be much safer and free from the comment of right now.
“I can walk on my own. Matteo” She tried protesting, but I shut her up by straightening her on myself and walked straight to where the car was packed
Opening the door, I slowly put her down in the passenger’s seat, dropping her there, I stood there watching as she tried to arrange herself, her eyes as she opened them is filled with the emotions that she carried alongside herself. So much was there,
She looked so exhausted. I wanted her to tell me what she had seen inside there that made her head hurt so much but knew this wasn’t the time.
Closing the door, I walked to the passenger’s seat and all I wanted was for him to be okay again.
“All I want to do is lay on my bed and forget the things I heard in there, that is all I want right now.” She whispered through her breaths that were difficult to grasp.
That is something I can grant so very fast. I am taking her away from the premises, somewhere something might have happened
Something that broke her more than she already is broken.
It was late at night and having so many work papers to review, I was still awake and in the living room.
Oh, I take that as an excuse, as
as I have b
been sitting out here just waiting for her to wake up and find me in the living room
But she had been sleeping for hours and wouldn’t wake up.
I don’t know what to do about that, so I just let her rest up knowing how much stress she has been through.
The sound of feet made me raise my head my eyes focused on the stairs as I waited for the step to get closer
Until it descended and she was the onr
She is still in the clothes she had been on when I left her lying on that bed as she slept
I have been thrown into a dilemma, not knowing what to do with either waking her up or allowing her to sleep like that.
1 did leave her at the end, and now she is walking back to the living room with that same dress.

Chapter 20
“It is so late in the afternoon 1. I must have slept throughout the morning.” She said as she came down.
Yawning loudly, she sank to the sofa as she looked my way.
Removing the glasses that adorned my eyes, I looked at her.
The marks across her face have faded, the one that shows how exhausted she was
They are faint thin lines now, and she looked much better than before she slept.
I knew it wasn’t the time to bring up the matter of what had happened there, as she needed to recover.
“I made you something, thinking you were going to wake up earlier,” I said, standing from the chair I had been working on.
She nodded as I walked to the other side of the living room, and opened the fridge. I took out the food that I had bought, closed the refrigerator. and walked to where she was as I handed it to her,
Her eyes were on the food as she gaped at it. Her eyes slightly lifted right to my face and I couldn’t read the expression that was clear as Crystal on
her face.
“Thank you.” She whispered, looking at the food.
I nodded, walking back to my work desk, and I allowed her to enjoy what was given to her.
After 30 minutes, I noticed her standing up, she walked straight to where I was sitting, and she dragged a chair closer, now staring at me.
“What are you
are you doing! Don’t tell me it’s work, you work so hard” She groaned, looking at all the files that were on the desk.
I let out a soft sound as 1 dragged my eyes away from her.
Work was the only way, the only thing I could do to focus on my life.
After all that I had been through, I found a way to escape and that was work
“It is an escape from reality, when I have this many files on my desk to look at, it tells me that there is more to life than the past. That right now I have so many people I’m paying and have so much to focus on.” I said softly.
Looking up at her, I knew that I had let my deepest thoughts out.
I’m clearing my voice, wanting to take back those words, as I knew she would ask me questions because of what I had just said.
I was surprised when she picked one of the files and started skimming through it.
“I’m going to have so much headache just looking at this, I have to give it to you for doing this much work.” She raised her thumb for me as gave me the brightest smile 1 had ever seen on her face before.
she
It made her eyes twinkle, made the base of her eyes shine so much that they wrinkled together, giving her face the most beautiful transformation.
I am lost in her eyes, the eyes that are looking at me with nothing but admiration inside them.
Her thumb was still up, and she couldn’t stop looking at me with the same playful expression on her face. All of a sudden, my mind was back to that
party.
very first day that I saw her.
On that very
Saw the brightest smile I have ever seen, the look in her eyes when I spoke to her, and the way the smile transformed just like now.
I am reminded again of what should have been mine.
Now I’m pushing those thoughts back to where they are supposed to
Tell me what happened today,” I said, breaking us both from the shatters of the smile that left me in an inferno.
