Chapter 17
The light in my eyes and the happiness that I felt with the discussion last night followed me until this morning.
I don’t know the reason, but this happiness was blooming inside of me, and I didn’t even like it that much.
Or so I said to myself when I knew that was all false.
Standing up from the bed even though I knew it was already, so early I was used to waking up that early. I walked into the kitchen and the place was as neat as I could remember
Opening the fridge, there was a lot to cook with, there was a lot stocked in the fridge, and now I’m thinking of the best thing to prepare this

were more eggs, so I decided on a sandwich, and before I could change my mind I already started with the preparations
A few hours have passed, and I’m so done, and in happy with the results.
“Wow, something smells so delicious here.” He walked into the kitchen, his scents filling everywhere as much as his presence,
“Good morning” I smiled his way, he was already dressed for work, with a dark suit that in him so much, he dropped the suitcase on the table and walked to where I was standing,
Suddenly, the place feels more advanced than it should, there was his presence dominating the kitchen without him even trying
“You made breakfast” He said, there was something in his tone, like he didn’t believe that I would prepare breakfast for him.
*1 happened to wake up so early, so I decided to make something for us,” I said to him as I pointed towards the dining chair.
He nodded and walked to the chair as he settled down
While serving him the food, there was something of warmth emanating from his eyes, like he couldn’t believe that I was doing that but at the same time, I was doing that
“I have a long day at work, 1 guess this will be able to keep me most of the day.” He rubbed lds stomach together with all smiles, “Thank you.” He said and then started digging.
“Mmmm,” He moaned at the first bite of the food as his eyes closed in pleasure. “This is so good”
His appreciation made me almost teary, how I had longed for the moment when my ex–husband would decide that I was an excellent cook and appreciate how much he wanted the food.
He would stand up after every meal and pretend that I wasn’t the one who wasted all my strength in making him something perfect.
It was tough for me, but because of the love that I had for him, I never, for once, complained, and instead, I kept doing the same thing even when I knew he didn’t deserve in
-What are you thinking about! I have been calling you.” Feeling a shake on my shoulder, I faded out from where my thought had disappeared to, and I was looking at the worried gaze on his face.
“1.m.” There was no explanation for where my head had been, it disappeared to where I thought I had buried it for now.
But no matter how much time has passed, even though it hasn’t been that long. I knew that my head was not going to go away from the 3 years of memory
that is buried inside of me.
“Oh, you are done eating!”
He was already up and ready to move, and yet here I was thinking about something else.
“I have something for you” He said taking out his phone.
He tapped on the screen before nodding at me as heard a notification from my side.
“Check that out later, it’s going to cheer you up. And thanks for the breakfast, it was delicious.
Before I could think of a reply, he disappeared out of the kitchen and as I stood there, I could hear his car as he disappeared out of the compound.
I am left alone in the sifence that fills the house, until when will I keep wallowing in the aftermath of what had shaken me! Until when will I heal completely from what I’m supposed to be healing from!
Remembering what he said he sent, I dropped the kitchen distill and walked towards where my phone was placed.

My eyes are on those tiny words, they seem to be a little, but to me, it was so much more than a word that was scrambled together.
At that very moment, I knew the next thing I wanted to do with my life.
When I dialed that number, it was precisely what I should have done on that very day. I knew that my whole life that was planned had ended.
“Well, well, if it isn’t Birdie Williams.” Someone I never considered a friend, but the industry always joined us together, hips to hips, walking into the office space.
She had a walking stick, of course, it was for a shine because she always wanted to be so cool.
She looked at me and I stood as soon as she walked inside.
“Diamond sky, if it isn’t the one and only I made to walk closer to her, but she raised the stick, indicating the didn’t want me close
to her.
“I have imagined so many reasons why you wanted to see me this early Monday morning, and I could only y come up with one thing, after, of course, seeing your divorce in the news.”
That felt like a stabs, more than it should be. He, of course, attributed the divorce between the two of us as a factor that made the rumor spread that he had spent the money on a paper company.
He has himself hooked, but that wasn’t what he was thinking. The next plan is something he wasn’t going to expect, which will make this more fun.
“Whatever you are thinking first, that is probably why I am here. I said to her, settling back in the chair.
She scoffed before walking to her side as she settled down.
You were at the peak, there was so much going on, and you decided to quit. It still doesn’t make a single sense to me until this very day.”

She cleaned her ears.
Diamond Sky was someone that I was working with. I was the higher–up when it came to design, and she was nowhere close to me in the industry
here.
But of course, with me leaving, that made it easier for her to shine, and now she is way above me.
If I need to get back into this business, I need someone like her, to show me how things are, which is, of course, why I am here.
“You leaving made me have no competition, as you can see, I am flourishing in more ways than you can think.” She said, spreading her hand’s wide
for me to see.
She is opening design schools, and they are doing so well, her dresses and shows are one of the tops, to say she was doing just okay was the least.
I require your help, in the past 3 years I have no idea what has been happening. I am ready to work with you and make the best of this partnership, I have a written contract on what will benefit the both of us.”
Opening my bag. I took out the work contract that I had drafted, dropping it for her.
She looked at the file with disgust and marched on her face before picking it up.
“I’m not going to treat you like an old colleague of mine, you will have to learn from scratch if you want to work here. Just you know that.
This means this thing is invalid, if you are interested in my terms, then let’s work it out, but if you are not? You can leave my office right now
Not that I was expecting more from her, it was not her fault that I had to leave something I was so good at all because I wanted to make a man happy, and yes, I did Got have a choice.
“I am going to do my best to serve you.” I stoned to take her lund in a shake, but she looked at my hand before standing up
“You know when to start work, and make sure you are on time.”
