Chapter 8 What Does Her Job Have to Do With Me?
Sofia, with a blank expression, used her phone’s app and in the next moment, transferred eight hundred thousand to Sylvia Grant’s account.
Sylvia joyfully replied, “Thanks, rich lady.”
Sofia didn’t reply and finally put away her phone.
He felt no connection to this woman who charged her for every favor.
The car conveniently stopped at the Hart family’s door. Sofia got out without noticing the driver’s shocked expression.
Living in such a luxurious house yet still needing to take a cab, the driver just couldn’t understand the world of the rich.
After taking another look at the house he could never afford in ten lifetimes, the driver started the car and drove away.
Today, Sofia came back very late, but Older Mr. Hart was still waiting for her to have dinner together.
This touched her deeply, adding more affection for Older Mr. Hart.
When she was with the Schneider family, no matter how early or late she came back, no one would ask if she had eaten.
They only wished she would die outside.
Looking at the table full of dishes, Sofia could clearly see some were made just for her. It moved her even more.

Seeing Sofia hesitate to eat, Older Mr. Hart asked, “What’s wrong? Don’t
like the food?”
“No, Grandpa, I’m just so hungry I don’t know which dish to start with,” Sofia said.
Upon hearing this, Older Mr. Hart personally served her a bowl of soup. “Then start with this soup to warm your stomach. When you’re hungry, you mustn’t rush. Try this chicken soup; it tastes great.”
Sofia took the soup and sipped it slowly, feeling touched.
Besides her mentor, this was the first person to tell her to take care of herself.
As the chicken soup warmed her throat and body, Sofia felt her heart fill up.
Once her hunger eased, Sofia looked at Older Mr. Hart and said, “Grandpa, my work hours are irregular. You don’t have to wait for me to have dinner anymore.”
No need to ask; she knew Older Mr. Hart’s mealtimes were set.
He already had enough to worry about with Nathaniel. If he had to wait for her too, it would disrupt his routine, which Sofia genuinely felt bad about.
However, Older Mr. Hart said, “I’m in good health, and having you with me for dinner makes me happy.”
Understanding Older Mr. Hart’s feelings, Sofia didn’t say anything
more.
After dinner, Sofia went to the study.

Nathaniel’s medical records were all there, organized specifically for Sofia to review when she returned at night.
She quickly skimmed through the records, noting all of Nathaniel’s symptoms and the various medications used by his doctors.
Everything seemed standard. Not bad, but not excellent either.
Since the incident, Nathaniel’s physical signs hadn’t changed much.
Fortunately, they were slightly better than Sofia had expected, with no signs of worsening.
This meant that although the equipment had been tampered with, it hadn’t affected Nathaniel yet.
Sofia breathed a sigh of relief.
This relieved Sofia, allowing her to use more direct and stimulating methods to treat Nathaniel without worry.
After reviewing the records, Sofia went to Nathaniel’s room.
Older Mr. Hart accompanied her, as she needed to be honest with Nathaniel about her profession. With Older Mr. Hart there, Sofia could let him handle Nathaniel’s potential anger.
She didn’t want to face Nathaniel’s anger directly.
Older Mr. Hart knew today’s goal.
Once in the room, he didn’t beat around the bush and said directly to Nathaniel, “Nathaniel, I forgot to tell you before. Sofia is actually a doctor.”

Nathaniel’s expression changed from indifference to anger upon hearing the word “doctor.”
Just as he was about to speak, Older Mr. Hart continued, “But Nathaniel, Sofia isn’t here to treat you. I just wanted to let you know that Sofia is very busy.”
“Sometimes she has night shifts and can’t come back, and sometimes the hospital calls her in. If you can’t find her, don’t think she doesn’t care about you. She’s just busy.”
Nathaniel looked at his grandfather speechlessly, as if saying, “What does her job have to do with me? Do I look like someone who would look for her?”
Ignoring Nathaniel’s expression, Older Mr. Hart went on, “Nathaniel, I don’t care how you treat other doctors, but Sofia is your wife. You can’t get angry with her.”
Nathaniel almost laughed out of anger.
He knew better than anyone what kind of people he disliked most. Yet his grandfather had found him a wife from that very profession and expected him to treat her well.
His gaze fell on Sofia’s face, which showed nothing but innocence and purity. It was as if Older Mr. Hart’s words had nothing to do with her.
Nathaniel narrowed his eyes and said, “Since my wife is a doctor, she must be very kind. Why not come and check on me? My, dear, wife.”
Sofia blinked, maintaining a calm expression while her heart raced.
Last night, she had said in front of this man that she was a kind girl.

Though she was sure he had been asleep, why did Sofia now feel so strongly that Nathaniel was mocking her because of what she had said?
She wasn’t prepared to be discovered just yet.
Distracted for a few seconds, Sofia muttered, “Mr. Hart, you overestimate me. I’m just an ordinary doctor, not very skilled. I can help with some basic care, but for treatment, you should still see the experts.”
Nathaniel simply watched Sofia silently, though his expression clearly
her. indicated he saw through her. Yet he didn’t expose
He just quietly watched her lie.
Sofia tightened her lips, silently cursing the man for being so cunning and deceitful even while lying in bed.
She quietly decided not to visit Nathaniel’s room tonight; she felt like she had been found.
Regardless, she needed to prepare for the treatment properly.
There were a few medicines she needed to ask someone to buy for her.
Nathaniel’s gaze remained fixed on Sofia’s face, capturing every fleeting thought that crossed her mind.
He turned to Older Mr. Hart and said, “Grandpa, since my wife is a doctor, why not let her be in charge of my treatment from now on? Those experts, they’re probably just greedy doctors without much real skill.”
Older Mr. Hart had been silently observing Nathaniel and Sofia. Seeing Nathaniel not object to Sofia being a doctor made him very happy.
