Chapter 53 Call Him for Dinner
On t
the set, Kassidy Schneider had been looking for Nixon Blake since she arrived in the morning.
But Nixon hadn’t shown up today either.
Kassidy wasn’t sure if she was getting used to his absence or just more curious.
This show had many scenes for both the male and female leads, and the male lead had
even more scenes.
Nixon, as the male lead, hadn’t appeared, which baffled her.
She couldn’t understand what could be more important than filming.
Finally, Kassidy couldn’t hold back and found Davian Sanders. “Davian, what’s going on with Mr. Blake? Why isn’t he coming to set? Are we still shooting this show or not?”
Davian felt annoyed as soon as he saw Kassidy but couldn’t send her away yet.
He rubbed his nose and said, “We’re following the shooting schedule. Nixon doesn’t have scenes scheduled for now. It’s all clearly planned.”
“But Davian, he’s the male lead. Filming just my scenes and those with supporting actors makes no sense!” Kassidy complained.
Who wants to watch scenes with supporting actors? People watch for the leads! It felt to Kassidy like Nixon was being treated as a mere prop.
Davian thought to himself that it was all because of her.
If she hadn’t been so difficult, he wouldn’t be struggling with this.
He dismissed her, saying, “Just stick to the schedule. Don’t worry about anything else.”
“But…” Kassidy started, but Davian had already found an excuse to busy himself with something else.
Fuming, Kassidy returned to her trailer, threw down her script, and sat on the sofa with at
scowl.

Chapter 5 Call Him for Dinner
Kaitlyn Willis tried to console her, “Kassidy, don’t worry about it. You’re the female lead. As long as you do your part well, everything else will be fine.”
“But Kaitlyn, don’t you find it strange? I’ve been in a few productions. I know how filming schedules work. I’ve never seen a shoot where the male lead’s scenes are ignored. We have so many scenes together. If he doesn’t film, I’ll be exhausted later!” Kassidy raged.
“Just trust me, don’t stress over it,” Kaitlyn soothed. “You’re about to get famous. Every action and expression counts. One wrong move could become a scandal.”
Kaitlyn’s words snapped Kassidy out of her anger.
She had to maintain her image, especially with the Joyful Jewelry collaboration at stake.
This opportunity was crucial for her career; she couldn’t afford to act recklessly.
With Kaitlyn’s reassurance, Kassidy felt somewhat better.
But thinking about Grace wanting Nixon’s autograph made her anxious. She didn’t want to fail her little sister.
Determined, Kassidy told Kaitlyn, “Since Nixon isn’t coming to the set, find a way to get me his autographed photo.”
Kaitlyn asked curiously, “Why do you need it?”
Her instincts flared up. Was Kassidy interested in Nixon?
Her frustration over his absence, her intense reaction–it all pointed to something deeper.
Kaitlyn was about to warn Kassidy to prioritize her career, even if she liked Nixon, when Kassidy explained, “My sister is a fan. She asked for his autograph. I planned to get it on set, but he didn’t show up. Can you blame me for being upset?”
Kaitlyn relaxed, seeing Kassidy’s reaction was genuine. “Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”
Kassidy nodded, confident in Kaitlyn’s abilities,
With that sorted, she returned to her script.
She had two important opportunities in front of her and wouldn’t let them slip by.

But by noon, Nathaniel was still asleep, making Older Mr. Hart worry.
Since his accident, Nathaniel’s routine had been consistent despite his paralysis.
Older Mr. Hart couldn’t understand why he was sleeping so much today.
Several times, he tried waking Nathaniel to eat, but Nathaniel just said, “Grandpa, I’m very tired. Let me sleep a bit more,” and went back to sleep.
Desperately worried, Older Mr. Hart waited for Sofia Schneider to return home. As soon as she did, he pulled her to see Nathaniel.
“Sofia, what’s wrong with Nathaniel? Why is he sleeping so much today? Please check on him; I’m very worried.”
Sofia knew the reason but couldn’t tell Older Mr. Hart yet.
She reassured him, “Grandpa, don’t worry. I’ll check on him. Everything’s fine, I promise.”
Older Mr. Hart felt a strange sense of calm from Sofia’s words. “Alright, I’ll have Gregory prepare dinner for Nathaniel. You check on him and call him for dinner.”
“Okay, Grandpa. Everything will be fine,” Sofia said, soothingly.
Sending Older Mr. Hart to the kitchen, Sofia returned to Nathaniel’s room.
By chance, Nathaniel had just woken up, his eyes still sleepy and confused, looking at her blankly.
It was the first time Sofia had seen him like this, and she found him looking surprisingly docile and endearing.
She walked over and gently brushed the hair off his forehead. “You’ve been sleeping all day. Grandpa’s worried about you.”
“You didn’t tell me last night’s treatment would leave me this drained,” Nathaniel said innocently.
He hadn’t expected last
ight’s treatment to leave him so exhausted.
“Well, that’s how it’ll be for a while. Should we tell Grandpa the truth?” Sofia asked.

They would have to inform Older Mr. Hart eventually.
Sofia hadn’t told him yet to avoid causing him stress.

But seeing him worry all day made Sofia feel guilty, especially knowing he hadn’t eaten properly.
Nathaniel thought for a moment and said, “Not yet. Tomorrow, I’ll tell him I couldn’t sleep at night because I slept too much during the day, and I’ll sleep more tomorrow.”
Sofia found his excuse exasperating.
This wasn’t about coaxing a child!
Anyhow, if Nathaniel tried to fool her like that, she’d definitely call him out.
Nathaniel could tell what she was thinking by her expression.
He squinted and asked, “What’s your suggestion then?”
