Chapter 51 Delivering the Fatal Blow
Sofia Schneider sneaked into Nathaniel Hart’s room at one in the morning.
Starting tonight, she would begin administering a new drug to Nathaniel.
She planned to use it for a week straight, then give Nathaniel three days to adjust.
If his condition improved, they could prepare for surgery.
Luckily, Otis Frank and Emiliano Rogers were both here, which made her feel more confident in her medical skills.
With their assistance, Sofia was sure the surgery would go smoothly.
Sofia was lost in her thoughts and didn’t notice that Nathaniel was awake.
Tonight, Nathaniel didn’t pretend to be asleep. Instead, he watched Sofia closely.
It wasn’t until Sofia got closer that she realized Nathaniel was staring at her.
She instantly froze, swallowed hard, and then gave an awkward smile, saying “Mr. Hart, you’re not asleep?”
“I woke up. But you, why aren’t you sleeping at this hour? What are you doing in my room?” Nathaniel pretended it was the first time he’d seen her in his room.
Sofia hesitated, unsure whether to tell the truth.
Would Nathaniel believe her if she did?
But if she didn’t tell him, how would she inject the drug into Nathaniel’s IV?
As Sofia battled with herself, Nathaniel suddenly asked, “What are you holding?”
Seeing that he had already noticed, Sofia decided to come clean.
“This is a drug I’ve prepared for you. It will help with your recovery.”
Nathaniel was surprised by her honesty.

He looked at Sofia for a long time and then said. “Are you saying you can cure me?”
Sofia bit her lip, thought for a moment, and then nodded.

She said, “Mr. Hart, you might not believe me, but I can really cure you.”
“What if you can’t?” Nathaniel asked.
He wasn’t trying to argue with Sofia. It was just that she was an ordinary doctor, anyone would think she was boasting.
and
Nathaniel had seen many doctors, and almost all of them told him his condition was hopeless.
The best they could promise was that he wouldn’t become deformed from lying in bed for so long.
Now, Sofia was bluntly telling him he could be cured.
If Nathaniel hadn’t heard her say this before, he might have called her ridiculous and kicked her out..
Sofia said, “I know you don’t believe me now, but I’ll prove it to you, as long as you let me use the drug.”
Her biggest worry was that Nathaniel would refuse to let her use the drug.
Nathaniel looked at Sofia silently but said nothing.
Just when Sofia was about to give up, Nathaniel suddenly chuckled and said, “Even if I don’t agree, would you really stop?”
From the first night she snuck into his room, she hadn’t asked for his permission.
Now, saying this to him seemed a bit late.
Sofia lowered her eyes and thought, no, she couldn’t stop.
She had gone through great lengths to get this drug, and one of her trusted aides was now lying in a hospital bed because of it.
If she didn’t use it on Nathaniel, she would feel she had let Justin Robertson down.

Besides, this drug could really cure Nathaniel.
Seeing Sofia’s thoughts, Nathaniel smirked and said, “Aren’t you going to use the drug? Why aren’t you doing it?”
Sofia was surprised at how agreeable Nathaniel was.
She quickly moved to the IV stand, ready to inject the drug, but she couldn’t help looking at Nathaniel and said, “If I really use it, you can’t back out.”
“I won’t,” Nathaniel said in a deep voice.
He had to admit, he wanted Sofia to cure him.
And what’s more, he had already come to trust Sofia.
Tonight, he didn’t pretend to be asleep because he wanted to see if she would tell him.
Now that Sofia was so honest, how could Nathaniel refuse?
As Sofia injected the drug into the IV, she couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Hart, this drug will cause a lot of pain once it’s in your system.”
Her tone was worried, as if she feared he would refuse treatment because of the pain.
Nathaniel looked at her expression and said calmly, “It’s fine. After being numb for so long. feeling pain is good.”
He wasn’t lying; he really thought so.
Hearing this, Sofia felt a mix of emotions.
She didn’t hesitate any longer and injected the drug into the IV.
Watching the drug flow into Nathaniel’s bloodstream, Sofia’s heart tightened.
She walked over to the equipment and adjusted it.
She said, “Mr. Hart, do you know who wants to harm you?”
“What?” Nathaniel was still watching the IV tube, eager to feel the pain.

Hearing Sofia’s question, he turned to look at her.
“This
equipment was deliberately tampered with. I’m thinking, whoever could mess with it must be someone who can frequently enter your room. Mr. Hart, can you think of anyone?” Sofia asked.
Nathaniel remained silent. He had his suspicions about who wanted to harm him.
But now wasn’t the right time.
So Nathaniel said, “I don’t know.”
Sofia finished adjusting the equipment and frowned at Nathaniel’s confident answer, puzzled.
She didn’t see anything unusual on his face.
But she felt Nathaniel might be lying.
This feeling made her uneasy.
It wasn’t because Nathaniel lied to her, but because it made Sofia feel that Nathaniel was surrounded by danger.
She walked over to Nathaniel’s side, sat on the edge of the bed, and stared at his face.
She said, “Mr. Hart, do you not want me to know?”
Sofia wanted to tell Nathaniel that he could trust her completely and share his suspicions with her.

Maybe she could help him catch and deliver a fatal blow.
Sofia also had her own suspicions..
She just didn’t know if they matched Nathaniel’s.
If they didn’t, Sofia would be even more worried about the dangers around Nathaniel.
Nathaniel said, “Stay out of this.”
She could still stay out of it and tell that person she was just a contract wife, meaningless to

him.
But once she got involved, it would be a different story for that person.
Nathaniel couldn’t let Sofia be in danger.
If she could really cure him, she would mean even more to him.
Nathaniel couldn’t repay kindness with ingratitude.
But Sofia didn’t agree with him.

She said, “Mr. Hart, if that person can easily enter your room, they must already know I’m treating you. I’m not afraid of them stopping me, but in their eyes, we’re already in this together. Whether I want to be involved or not, I already am. Don’t you think so?”
Nathaniel understood what Sofia meant.
He had thought about it too.
But now the enemy was hiding in the shadow, leaving them at a disadvantage. It wasn’t the right time for a showdown.
Nathaniel said, “Wait a bit longer. When the time is right, I’ll tell you who it is.”
Hearing this, Sofia didn’t ask further.
She saw sweat beads forming on Nathaniel’s face, knowing his body was starting to feel the pain.
Sofia stood up and said to Nathaniel, “I’ll go get a towel.”
