Chapter 40 Could Something Have Happened to Mrs. Hart?
At 2 AM, Nathaniel Hart lay wide awake, frowning and deep in thought.
It was strange that Sofia Schneider hadn’t come over tonight.
He had no idea what Sofia was up to or why she hadn’t shown up.
By around 1 AM, he had already started getting himself ready, just waiting for Sofia to arrive.
But she never came.
Nathaniel’s face grew darker and darker.
He called Kyler Johnston and asked, “Where is she?”
Kyler shook his head and replied, “I’m sorry, Mr. Hart, I don’t know.”
“If you don’t know, then find out,” Nathaniel said.
Kyler immediately took the order and went out to look for Sofia.
He couldn’t just barge into Sofia’s room, so he had to check the surveillance cameras around her room to see if she had left.
Soon, Kyler confirmed that Sofia hadn’t left her room.

He reported this to Nathaniel and curiously asked, “Mr. Hart, could something have happened to Mrs. Hart?”
Nathaniel was worried about that too.
After hesitating for a moment, he said, “Go get Grandpa.”
In the entire Hart family, only Grandpa had a reason to call Sofia.
Soon, Older Mr. Hart arrived.
Nathaniel, frowning and breathing unevenly, said to him, “Grandpa, I’m not feeling well

right now. Isn’t Sofia a doctor? Could you get her to come and check on me?”
Hearing Nathaniel’s words, Older Mr. Hart immediately panicked.
He hurried to Sofia’s room, but after knocking for a long time, there was no response from Sofia.
Older Mr. Hart was extremely puzzled. He returned to Nathaniel’s room and hesitantly said, “Sofia might have gone out for something. There’s no answer.”
“Grandpa, why don’t you go into her room and check?” Nathaniel asked.
Older Mr. Hart had indeed wanted to push the door open and see what was going on.
However, it was his granddaughter–in–law’s room, and Older Mr. Hart couldn’t just do that.
While he was hesitating, Charley Hart, who had been woken up, appeared in Nathaniel’s room, rubbing her tired eyes.
She asked, “What’s going on? Why aren’t you all sleeping? What are you doing in the middle of the night?”
Older Mr. Hart’s eyes lit up immediately.
He said to Charley, “Charley, you’re just in time. Go check on Sofia in her room. See if something happened or if she’s not home. I knocked, but there was no response.”
Charley was instantly annoyed when she heard that Sofia was the reason for all the commotion.
“Grandpa, why do you care about her? Whether she’s home or not, it’s up to her. Let’s go back to sleep. I’m exhausted,” Charley said.
She didn’t want to go to Sofia’s room. Seeing Sofia annoyed her, and now she had to go check on her?
No way!
However, Older Mr. Hart’s face darkened immediately at her words.
He said, “Charley, Nathaniel isn’t feeling well. Just go quickly and stop complaining.”
Charley looked at Nathaniel and grumbled, “If he’s not feeling well, he should see a doctor,

“Charley!” Older Mr. Hart was genuinely angry. He shouted at Charley, finally making her realize the seriousness of the situation.
Charley pouted, stomped her foot in frustration, and went to find Sofia.
She couldn’t understand why Grandpa cared so much about Sofia.
It was too infuriating!
Charley reached Sofia’s room, didn’t knock, and just turned the doorknob and rushed in.
However, there was no one.
Charley frowned but felt a sense of glee inside.
Sofia, I’ve got something on you!
Returning from Sofia’s room, Charley said gleefully, “Sofia’s not there.”
“Not there?” Older Mr. Hart asked, puzzled.
Where could Sofia be at this hour?
Charley said, “If you don’t believe me, you can go check yourself. She’s not in her room. I think we should call Dr. Salazar quickly. Delaying Nathaniel’s treatment would be a big problem.“.
Nathaniel spoke up at this moment, “No need. I’m not feeling that bad anymore. Grandpa, you all go back to sleep.”
“Nathaniel, are you really okay?” Older Mr. Hart was only concerned about his grandson’s health at this point, not caring why Sofia wasn’t home.
Nathaniel nodded and said, “I’m fine. Maybe I had a nightmare earlier. I’m okay now. No need to call Dr. Salazar.”
“That’s good. You should rest early too. Call me if you need anything,” Older Mr. Hart said.
Seeing that Nathaniel’s face indeed looked a bit better, Older Mr. Hart didn’t insist on calling the doctor.

He knew his grandson. Nathaniel didn’t like seeing doctors unless absolutely necessary.
To ensure that Dr. Braylon Green could treat him smoothly in the future, Older Mr. Hart decided not to make Nathaniel uncomfortable.
However, after leaving Nathaniel’s room, Older Mr. Hart became puzzled again.
Why wasn’t Sofia home?
Gregory noticed and said to Older Mr. Hart, “Sir should we call Sofia? It’s late, and we don’t know if something happened.”
“She’s an adult. What could happen? Are you all too worried?” Charley said.
She really couldn’t understand why they cared so much about Sofia.
Older Mr. Hart glared at Charley and said, “If you’re tired, go to bed.
Charley, frustrated, ran back to her room.
She didn’t want to deal with them anymore!
”
Older Mr. Hart said to Gregory, “Then make a call. Ask what’s going on. I’m just worried that something might have happened, and she didn’t tell us.”
Gregory immediately called Sofia, but no one answered.
Older Mr. Hart’s face grew darker.
He looked at Gregory, who kept shaking his head, and felt increasingly uneasy.
He knew Sofia wouldn’t do anything to betray the Hart family.
But leaving suddenly without telling them made him feel that Sofia didn’t consider them family.
This feeling was very uncomfortable.
