Chapter 212 She Likes Everything
In the kitchen, Sofia Schneider had already put the pork chops in the oven.
She had seasoned them with herbs to make sure the meat wouldn’t be greasy and wouldn’t cause any issues for Old Mr. Hart, who needed to watch his cholesterol Plus, it made the flavor even better.
Nathaniel Hart leaned against the counter, watching Sofia work, and smiled. “Aren’t you worried Charley will throw a fit at you again?”
“Do you really think you’d let her throw a fit at me?” Sofia glanced up at Nathaniel, thinking what a silly question that was.
Nathaniel grinned. “Of course not. I’ll deal with her.”
Sofia couldn’t help but remember how Nathaniel once made Charley write out texts as punishment, and she burst into laughter.
“She’s your sister. How could you be so harsh with her?” Sofia asked.
“When she was little, she was wild and wouldn’t listen. She used to get into fights all the time. Harsh punishments didn’t work on her, so I had to use ‘gentler‘ methods,” Nathaniel explained.
After putting the pork chops in the oven, Sofia started prepping the ingredients for seafood porridge. Then she asked, “What does Charley usually like to eat?”
Even though Sofia had intentionally ignored Charley earlier, she didn’t plan to completely overlook her. She decided she would still make something Charley liked.
But to her surprise, Nathaniel didn’t respond right away.
When she looked over, she saw Nathaniel frowning slightly, as if deep in thought.
Sofia’s lips twitched. She quickly realized what his silence meant.
“Don’t tell me you don’t even know what your own sister likes to eat,” Sofia said.
Nathaniel shrugged. “Well, I can only say this: Charley’s a bit of a foodie. She likes everything, so there’s nothing in particular she favors.”

Sofia wasn’t buying it.
She smiled and asked, “Then do you know what I like to eat?”

“Of course,” Nathaniel replied, immediately rattling off a list of dishes Sofia loved.
Some of them were so spot–on that even Sofia hadn’t realized how much she liked them until he mentioned it.
She nodded in agreement–it was true, those were her favorites.
But the more Nathaniel showed he knew her well, the more Sofia felt a little sorry for Charley.
No wonder Charley acted out–she had a brother who didn’t spoil her and a grandpa who wasn’t overly affectionate.
That made Sofia even more determined to make something nice for Charley.
She quickly went over a menu in her mind, thinking of a few dishes most girls would enjoy! and then started getting to work. 1
Nathaniel watched her with an amused smile tugging at his lips.
Sofia really was kind–hearted.
Even though Charley had been bratty, Sofia was still being so thoughtful toward her.
Nathaniel believed that Sofia would find a way to help Charley understand her place in the
family.
Charley definitely needed a little lesson from Sofia.
