Chapter 211 I Haven’t Treated Her That Badly, Have I?
Charley Hart just couldn’t understand why. She had only been away from home for two days, and suddenly, her grandpa had turned into a nagging old man.
She couldn’t handle it.
And now, on top of that, there was this new little furball stealing all the attention. Her already shaky status in the family was practically non–existent now.
Sniffling, Charley said, “Grandpa, that’s not even your real great–grandchild, but you it better than you treat me!”
treat
Old Mr. Hart responded, “How can you compare yourself to Pumpkin? Pumpkin’s way cuter than you. All you do is give me trouble. What else can you do?”
Charley felt like crying even more. It was official–she wasn’t the family’s little darling
anymore.
Chapter unlocked!
She glanced over at Sofia Schneider, opened her mouth to say something, but in the end, didn’t get the words out.
Sofia wasn’t in any rush. She picked up Pumpkin, who had scampered over to her, and started playing with the fluffy little dog.
Nathaniel Hart came over, too, sitting next to Sofia and playing with the dog as well.
Finally, Charley took a deep breath and asked, “Nathaniel, are you hungry?”
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and looked at her. “Why?”
“Do you feel like eating anything special?” Charley asked, trying hard to drop hints.
She kept glancing at Sofia, clearly hoping Nathaniel would ask Sofia to cook something- specifically, to have Sofia make a meal herself.
Sofia had already figured out what Charley was hinting at, and hearing her say that, she couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Turning to Nathaniel, she asked, “Mr. Hart, didn’t you mention you were craving seafood

Nathaniel played along, saying, “Sounds great. I’m sure whatever you cook will be delicious.”
“Of course! I’m pretty confident in my cooking skills,” Sofie said with a smile, “So, whe should we make? Maybe we should check the kitchen and see what we’ve go
“Good idea,” Nathaniel agreed with a laugh,
The two of them stood up, but before heading to the kitchen, Sofia turned to Old Mr. Han and asked, “Grandpa, what would you like to eat?”
Old Mr. Hart thought for a moment and said, “Pork chops.”
That was his favorite dish,
Sofia nodded. “Alright, Grandpa, just wait a bit. It’ll be ready soon.”
With that, Sofia and Nathaniel walked toward the kitchen.
Charley had been sitting there with an eager look on her face, waiting for Sofia to ask her what she wanted to eat. She was even ready to show off her food ordering skills.
But Sofia didn’t ask her.
Charley felt crushed. Was she really that unimportant?
Couldn’t Sofia see why she had come home in the first place?
But clearly, Sofia had no intention of acknowledging her.
Pouting, Charley turned to Old Mr. Hart and asked, “Grandpa, do you guys not like me anymore?”
“You already know how I feel about you. You’re my granddaughter–I could never dhlike you,” Old Mr. Hart said. “But as for whether Sofia likes you… well, you’ll have to ask yourself that.”
Charley bit her lip and looked at him with a pitiful expression. “Grandpa, I haven’t treated her that badly, have I?”
“Hmph, whether you’ve been good or not, you know the answer yourself,” Old Mr. Hart said, giving her a stern look. “You still haven’t called her ‘sister–in–law,‘ have you?”

Charley sniffled, and her shoulders stumped.
“But… Grandpa, it’s not my fault! I suddenly have a ser law. How am I supposed to accept her just like that?” she posed.
Old Mr. Hart snorted. “It’s not like we’re asking you to marry her. What’s your problem? Even Nathaniel didn’t complain.”
Charley was speechless. She looked at Old Mr. Hart and said, “Well, Nathaniel didn’t accept her right away either!”
“But now, Nathaniel is completely head over heels for Sofia,” Old Mr. Hart replied.
Charley couldn’t help but picture Nathaniel acting like a total simp around Sofia. It was hard for her to digest.
Old Mr. Hart had had enough of Charley’s attitude. If he didn’t give this girl a lesson soon, she’d never realize how foolish she’d been acting
He could tell that Sofia was deliberately trying to teach Charley a lesson today, so naturally, as the elder, he wasn’t going to undermine his granddaughter–in–law’s efforts
Whether or not Charley would understand Sofia’s good intentions was another story entirely,
After Old Mr. Hart left the room, Charley sat alone on the sofa, sighing endlessly.
All she wanted was to come home and eat a meal that Sofia had cooked.
Why was that so hard?
