Chapter 203 You’re Mine!
Archer Sanders didn’t stay much longer.
After he left Lakeside Manor, Sofia Schneider turned to Nathaniel Hart and asked, “You want me to treat her, don’t you?”
Nathaniel took her hand, holding it gently in his palm. He sighed and said, “Honestly, I don’t.”

“Why not?” Sofia asked, looking at Nathaniel, feeling even more confused.
“With the relationship I have with Archer, I should want you to help her, but her situation is complicated–more complicated than Archer knows.”
“I don’t want to put you at risk. If you manage to cure her, you might get dragged into a mess you don’t need. Sofia, I’m not willing to sacrifice you for anyone,” Nathaniel said.
Sofia stared at Nathaniel in shock. She couldn’t believe the word “sacrifice” had come out
of his mouth.
That made her even more curious about the old woman’s true identity.
“But you still let me meet her today. Is there something you know? Something about her identity… that’s connected to me?” Sofia asked,
Nathaniel tightened his grip on her hand and lowered his gaze, but he didn’t answer right
away.
His silence only confirmed what Sofia already suspected.
Sofia never doubted that Nathaniel knew her better than anyone, especially considering he had gone as far as contacting the Nightfall Order to investigate her.
Even though they hadn’t helped him, Nathaniel surely had other ways of uncovering the truth.
It was clear now that Nathaniel knew things she didn’t.
Sofia was desperate to know what he knew.

She held Nathaniel’s hand and said, “My love, please tell me. I know I’m not really from the Schneider family, but I still don’t know where I came from.”
Nathaniel heard Sofia’s words but didn’t respond immediately.
His gaze on Sofia became deeper, making her feel increasingly uneasy.
The more he looked at her like that, the more complicated her emotions became, and her face grew even more serious.
Sofia finally spoke, “Just say it. No matter what it is, I can handle it.”
She had experienced so much in this world already, built herself into someone strong, and didn’t believe anything could be too much for her to bear.
Nathaniel said, “Sofia, she has nothing to do with your background.”
Sofia asked, “How can you be so sure?”
“She is from the southwest, from Wintry Stockade. She was likely friends with your mentor,” Nathaniel explained.
Hearing him mention her mentor didn’t surprise Sofia in the least.
Of course, Nathaniel had investigated her thoroughly, even knowing about her mentor.
However, even she didn’t know that her mentor was connected to Wintry Stockade. Nathaniel had managed to find out that much.
She asked, “Are you saying my mentor is from Wintry Stockade?”
“If I’m right, your mentor and the old woman were once lovers. But then your mentor disappeared, and the woman went looking for him.”
“Somehow, she ended up meeting old Mrs. Sanders and, through a series of events, became a servant in the Sanders family,” Nathaniel said.
Sofia didn’t quite agree with his theory.
She had read about Wintry Stockade in ancient medical texts.
It was a hidden world, separate from the one they lived in now, filled with people skilled in their unique crafts, especially ancient medicine. It was a place that didn’t interact with

Sofia herself had learned some of those ancient techniques.
But she knew that the people of Wintry Stockade didn’t submit to anyone outside their world.
Under such a strict code, how could this woman have ended up as old Mrs. Sanders’s servant?
It was too strange.
Nathaniel said, “Sofia, this is just a theory. All I know for sure is that your mentor once visited Wintry Stockade.”
Sofia fell silent, realizing just how many mysteries her mentor had left behind.
She bit her lip lightly, feeling a moment of confusion, unsure of what direction to take next.
What kind of secrets had her mentor been hiding?
Nathaniel watched Sofia with concern.
He reached out, gently caressing her face, and said, “Sofia, I’m sorry. I should’ve kept this from you.”
“No, it’s fine,” Sofia shook her head and smiled sweetly at him. “These are things I was meant to find out sooner or later. I can’t run from them.”
She believed that if Nathaniel hadn’t told her today, someone else would have revealed these things to her later.
The fact that Nathaniel was the one to tell her made her feel a strange mixture of emotions.
Taking a deep breath, Sofia reached out her hand toward Nathaniel.
“Hold me, will you?” she asked.
Nathaniel’s heart ached for her. He reached over and pulled Sofia into his arms, holding her tightly.
He stroked her back gently and said, “Sofia, don’t be scared. I’m here with you.”

No matter what the connection was between Sofia’s mentor and the old woman, or whether Sofia had any ties to Wintry Stockade, none of that mattered.
Whatever secrets her mentor had kept, Nathaniel would protect her.
Sofia lay in Nathaniel’s arms, her voice muffled as she said, “If danger comes my way in the future, promise me you won’t get involved, okay?”
She didn’t want Nathaniel to be dragged into any of this.
She had a nagging feeling that the old woman’s appearance wasn’t just a coincidence.
There was something strange about it, and Sofia had a sense that she would soon be caught up in something bigger.
When that time came, the last thing she wanted was for Nathaniel to be in danger too.
But Nathaniel gently pulled back, lifting her chin so she had to meet his eyes.
His voice was more serious now. “Sofia, you’re my wife. You’re mine! How can you ask me not to get involved?”
