Chapter 2 The Hart Family’s New Servant
Nathaniel had really nice eyes, with a small mole at the corner. Despite his pale skin from being bedridden, Sofia Schneider still thought he was the most stunning man in the world.
She couldn’t help but stare in a daze.
Perhaps sensing the unfamiliar gaze, Nathaniel’s eyes moved and locked precisely onto Sofia’s.
Instantly, a flash of anger surged in his previously calm eyes.
Nathaniel looked away and spoke to Older Mr. Hart, “Grandpa, you should give up. So many doctors have given up on me, don’t be stubborn anymore.”
Hearing this, Older Mr. Hart’s initial joy faded. He patiently urged, “Nathaniel, please don’t say that. As long as there’s a bit of hope, I won’t give up. Don’t give up on yourself, okay?”
Nathaniel turned his eyes away, not wanting to see the worry and helplessness in his grandfather’s eyes.
Since his accident, he had watched his grandfather age.
For the past six months, he had been tirelessly seeking medical help day and night, spending a fortune, even scouring the black market and the dark web for information.
Nathaniel saw it all.

If he could move, he would end it himself to let his elderly grandfather enjoy his remaining years without worrying about him.
Seeing Nathaniel withdraw into himself, Older Mr. Hart understood his thoughts. He composed himself and said, “Nathaniel, don’t overthink it. I haven’t brought a doctor this time.”
At these words, Nathaniel finally looked backwith puzzled.
Could there be anything that pleased Older Mr. Hart more than finding him medical help?
Older Mr. Hart introduced, “Nathaniel, this is Sofia, the third child of the Schneider family. She will be your wife from now on.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a look of mockery appeared on Nathaniel’s face, and the anger in his eyes intensified.
He didn’t look at Sofia but said coldly, “Grandpa, I don’t need her!“He was already ruined. What right did he have to have a wife?
“Nathaniel, I just want someone to take care of you. There are only men in this house, and they can’t care for you properly. This way, I’ll feel more at ease.”
Older Mr. Hart explained, his tone unusually humble, leaving Sofia with a heavy heart.
Benson Schneider might have shown such kindness, but never towards
her.
Sofia wanted to say something to Nathaniel, like how she was actually a
Mr. Hart’s arrangement.
Although she just couldn’t bear to see Older Mr. Hart so sad.
But she could tell Nathaniel was vehemently opposed to doctors. When Older Mr. Hart introduced her, he hadn’t mentioned her profession,
and she understood why.
After a moment’s thought, Sofia said, “You don’t have to see me as your wife. Just think of me as a new servant of the Hart family. Just don’t take your anger out on me when you see me.”
Sofia had to stand up for herself. She was full of curiosity about the various sophisticated instruments in this house, which made her have

Otherwise, if she often wandered around here in the future and got scolded by this man, it would be very likely.
She didn’t want to waste a lot of energy on these things.
Nathaniel scrutinized Sofia up and down.
He wanted to mock her, asking if the Schneider family’s business was failing or going bankrupt, forcing Miss Schneider to marry a worthless man like him.
Yet, when he saw Sofia’s clear eyes, he just pressed his lips together and didn’t speak.
Seeing this, Older Mr. Hart took it as Nathaniel’s acceptance. He nodded gratefully at Sofia, increasingly convinced that she was the right choice.
Fearing Nathaniel might change his mind, Older Mr. Hart quickly

It wasn’t until they left Nathaniel’s room and returned to the front yard that Older Mr. Hart said, “Sofia, thank you. I’m so glad you’re willing to take care of Nathaniel and marry him. It means a lot to me.”
Sofia mumbled a reply, feeling guilty deep inside.
She couldn’t tell the old man why she agreed.
Older Mr. Hart continued, “Rest assured, from now on, you’re part of the Hart family. With me around, no one will dare to mistreat you. And once Nathaniel gets better, he’ll protect you too.”
Sofia nodded gratefully, “Thank you, Grandpa.”
Feeling like part of a family was a wonderful feeling. She cherished this warmth, despite some selfish desires.
“However, Sofia, you saw how Nathaniel reacts to doctors. Don’t tell him about your profession for now,” Older Mr. Hart advised.
Sofia promised, “I understand, Grandpa. I won’t tell him.”
“Good,” Older Mr. Hart sighed in relief, patting Sofia’s hand. Suddenly,
he added, “Sofia, I have high hopes for you and Nathaniel.”
At his age, he saw things clearly.
Since Nathaniel’s accident, he had been patient only with his grandfather.
But just now, although he didn’t want to deal with Sofia, he hadn’t said.
