Chapter 166 If Nathaniel Was Punishing Her or Himself
Everyone turned to see Curtis Hart walking over.
When Curtis saw Nathaniel Hart sitting at the dining table, his eyes widened in disbelief.
He stopped in his tracks, nearly rubbing his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things.
Charley Hart had already dropped her fork and ran to Curtis, grabbing his arm and shaking it. “Curtis, tell me how Nathaniel got better! You must know, right?”
Curtis finally snapped out of it and said, “Charley, I don’t know either. I want to know just as much as you do.”
Charley’s face fell in disappointment. “You don’t know either? How can this be?”
She then turned her attention to Sofia Schneider, striding over with her chin held high.
“You must know what’s going on, ri

Sofia continued eating calmly, ignoring Charley.
This infuriated Charley, who slammed her hand on the table and yelled, “I’m talking to you! Did you hear me?”
Nathaniel and Older Mr. Hart’s faces darkened as soon as Charley rushed over, but they stayed silent.
Curtis watched the scene unfold with interest, curious about how Sofia would handle the spoiled and arrogant Charley.
He still vividly remembered Sofia putting him in his place before.
Sofia finished her bite before lifting her gaze to Charley, her eyes cool and commanding, instantly quelling Charley’s bravado.
Charley swallowed nervously, puzzled by the sudden fear she felt towards Sofia.
She had never gotten the upper hand with Sofia and now felt a chill run down her spine.

Sofia set down her utensils and looked at Charley. “The first time we met, I told you I am
your
brother’s wife, and you should call me Sofia. But clearly, it seems you didn’t remember that.”
Charley recalled the humiliations Sofia had inflicted on her before.
She wanted to argue but knew that if she did, Sofia would put her in her place again.
She wasn’t about to forget another lesson so soon.
She took a step back and, with a defiant tone, said, “I’ll never acknowledge you as my sister–in–law. You don’t deserve Nathaniel!”

Sofia shrugged, unfazed. go ask someone else for answers. I’m not obligated to tell you.
With that, Sofia resumed her meal, completely ignoring Charley.
Charley fumed, glaring at Sofia. If she weren’t sure she couldn’t win in a fight, she would have lunged at Sofia.
However, just because Sofia ignored her didn’t mean Nathaniel and Older Mr. Hart would.
As Charley turned to go back to her seat, Nathaniel’s voice stopped her. “Such rudeness! Go to the study and copy the family rules. Don’t come out until you’ve done it a hundred times.”
Charley froze, her face turning pale.
Being sent to copy the ancient family texts was her worst nightmare since childhood.
She used to get into all kinds of trouble, and according to family rules, misbehavior had to be punished.
But that never worked on her since she quickly forgot the pain and got into trouble again.
When Charley was in fourth grade, after she injured a classmate, Older Mr. Hart had considered whipping her.
But Nathaniel suggested a different punishment, giving her family rules to copy with a quill, a much slower and more tedious process than using a pencil or pen.
Nathaniel had stayed in the study with her, neither eating nor sleeping, until she finished.
