Chapter 12 He Should Bear the Pain Himself
After hanging up the phone, Sofia Schneider leaned on her chin and looked out the window, feeling uncontrollably delighted.
She didn’t want to complicate her relationship with the Hart family, nor did she want to get involved in any business with them.
So, when Kassidy brought up the role matter, she naturally wouldn’t approach the Hart. family.
But she wasn’t about to hand Kassidy such a sweet deal either.
As Davian put it, Kassidy was all show and no substance, fit only to be a vase in a web drama.
Sofia would let her have this opportunity, and then, take it away.
The Schneider family should also learn what it means to go from heaven to hell in a second.
Returning to the Hart family and setting down her things, Sofia went straight to Nathaniel’s
room.
Nathaniel’s complexion today was especially poor, even paler than the past few days.
Older Mr. Schneider hadn’t noticed in the morning, but when he came back in the afternoon antisaw his grandson’s pale face, his heart ached instantly.
Spotting Sofia enter, he urgently pulled her over, “Sofia, please check on Nathaniel. He was fine yesterday, but today his complexion is terrible.”
Sofia knew exactly what was going on, but she couldn’t show it.
After a routine check of Nathaniel’s body, Sofia reassured Older Mr. Hart, “Grandpa, don’t worry, there’s nothing wrong. Maybe Mr. Hart just didn’t rest well last night.”
Sofia felt guilty. She knew Nathaniel’s bad complexion was likely due to pain, but she couldn’t reveal it.
But she didn’t understand why Nathaniel didn’t say anything.

She was prepared for Nathaniel to tell Older Mr. Hart that he could feel pain, prompting him to bring in several experts to consult and confirm Nathaniel’s physical changes.
But Sofia couldn’t ask Nathaniel directly. If she mentioned Nathaniel’s physical reactions, it would inevitably be discovered that it was all related to her.
Sofia didn’t want her true abilities exposed.
Hearing Sofia’s words, Older Mr. Hart finally relaxed.
He looked at Nathaniel and advised, “Nathaniel, the most important thing now is to rest. well. Sleep more and conserve your energy. This way, if you need surgery in the future, you’ll have enough strength to support it.”
Nathaniel echoed, “I understand, Grandpa.”
Sofia tried to minimize her presence, quietly standing aside.
Nathaniel kept glancing at Sofia out of the corner of his eye, his gaze deep and thoughtful.
He seemed to think of something and said to Older Mr. Hart, “Grandpa, I’m suddenly a bit hungry. Could you get me something to eat?”
Older Mr. Hart looked at Nathaniel in surprise, hardly believing what he heard.
This was the first time since Nathaniel’s accident that he had actively asked for food.
Older Mr. Hart was overjoyed and quickly stood up. “Alright, Grandpa will get it for you right away. What do you want to eat?”
Nathaniel said, “Grandpa, I’ll eat anything.”
Older Mr. Hart nodded repeatedly and left without delay.
Sofia’s heart skipped a beat, a bad feeling rising within her,
This was the first time she had been alone with Nathaniel since joining the Hart family.
Sofia clasped her hands behind her back, her fingers unconsciously twisting together to relieve her anxiety.
Nathaniel’s gaze was fixed on her face, watching her expression intently.

She wasn’t afraid of Nathaniel, but her actions behind the scenes made her feel guilty, making her appear weak and hesitant in front of him.
Nathaniel wasn’t planning to expose her, at least not with the information he currently had.
He looked at Sofia and chuckled lightly, “I guess so. I am disabled, and there’s nothing to fear.”
Sofia lifted her gaze to meet his, unable to hide her displeasure.
She finally spoke, “You shouldn’t talk like that. It would hurt Grandpa’s feelings, and this kind of psychological suggestion isn’t good for your recovery.”
Nathaniel scoffed, and casually said, “So you’re saying a terJustinlly ill patient can just convince themselves they’re not dying and magically recover?”
Sofia frowned and blurted out, “Why are you always opposing others?”
She Glared at Nathaniel and continued, “Besides, there’s data showing that optimistic patients have a better chance of recovery than pessimistic ones.”
Nathaniel said, “So what? Are you suggesting I tell myself a thousand times a day that I can stand up, and then I will?”
Sofia bit her fip, refusing to respond to Nathaniel’s words.
He was just being argumentative. No matter what she said, he would continue to argue.
Sofia really didn’t want to deal with this guy anymore.
Whether he could stand up or not had nothing to do with her.
It was his choice, and he should bear the pain himself.
Seeing Sofia silent for a long time, Nathaniel felt a bit helpless.
Especially now that Sofia’s expression clearly showed she was not happy, and very unhappy at that.

This was the most vivid expression he had seen on her face in these past few days.
For some reason, Nathaniel didn’t want to see Her like this.
He sighed lightly and said, “Okay, okay, I promise you. I won’t call myself a disabled anymore.”
Sofia moved her eyelashes and fixed her gaze on Nathaniel, seemingly judging the truth of his words.
Nathaniel almost let her expression get to him, coldly humming and saying, “As you said, I just don’t want to make my Grandpa sad.”
Sofia nodded finally, saying, “It’s best if you think that way.”
She did all this because she didn’t want to see Older Mr. Hart upset.
Older Mr. Hart soon brought food over. Since Nathaniel asked for it himself, Older Mr. Hart personally prepared everything.
Sofia helped set the table, doing her best to be a dutiful wife.
Older Mr. Hart watched Sofia take care of Nathaniel while eating, feeling deeply gratified.
He hadn’t made the wrong choice in Nathaniel’s wife.
Nathaniel was also surprised that Sofia would take the initiative to look after him during his meal.
Watching her feed him spoonful by spoonful, a strange feeling surged in his heart, something he had never experienced before and felt very unfamiliar with.
Yet, strangely, this feeling also brought him great pleasure.
He wanted to grasp it firmly.
Just then, a urgent voice came from outside the room, “Where’s my brother? I want to see my brother.”
