Chapter 113 You’re Not a Good Luck Charm
Sylvia Grant was browsing Instagram while complaining to Sofia Schneider.
“So, this is how the celebrity world works? These fans are really brain–dead, spending so much money on her. Sofia, do you think I’ll get fans like that? And what about those prize draws for houses? Do you think I can win one?
Sofia, somewhat exasperated, glanced at her and said, “You called them brain–dead, but you still want fans like that?”
“Wanting a house and thinking fans are brain–dead are two different things,” Sylvia replied.
“You still need more houses?” Sofia was speechless.
She had no idea how many properties Sylvia owned worldwide.
Even in their home country, Sylvia

had houses in all the major cities.
Despite this, she was interested in winning a house in a draw.
“Also, it’s a matter of probability. You’re not exactly a good luck charm,” Sofia said.
Sylvia protested, pinching Sofia’s hand. “Why can’t I be a good luck charm? If I weren’t, how could I have met you?”
Sofia winced from the pinch. “Alright. If you really want a house, maybe you should ask Curtis Hart for some resources to earn enough money.”
Sylvia said, “Honestly, I’m not that interested in that kind of money.”
Making money was easy for her, and with Sofia around, it was just a matter of saying the word.
Earning money through acting was a first for her and felt more grueling than getting into a fight.
Sofia said, “Think of it as a way to experience the hardships of the world.”
“With that kind of talk, the public would hate you. Sylvia said.

For them, the celebrity world seemed like the easiest place to make money.
Sylvia could understand their perspective. The most visible luxurious world seemed like
that to them.
She suddenly felt it was all quite ridiculous.
To them, becoming a star was a way to experience the hardships of the world.
But what about ordinary people?
Sylvia rested her chin on her hand and asked, “Sofia, how do you manage to work so diligently in a hospital for such a low salary?”
Sofia was just an ordinary doctor, earning a basic salary.
Her monthly earnings were barely enough for anything significant.
Yet, she had persisted all these years, working on the front lines.
Sylvia found it hard to comprehend.
Sofia could live a life of luxury without doing anything, so why continue working so hard?
Sofia said. “I guess it’s about passion. I don’t have many pursuits, but treating and saving people makes me feel valuable.”
She wasn’t driven by strong desires and often and a serene, saint–like demeanor. Only being a doctor gave her a sense of purpose.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t fully utilize her exceptional medical skills. If she did, she might attract dangerous attention from those who wanted to exploit her or eliminate her.
This was why her mentor always advised her to keep a low profile.

Sylvia said, “People are such complex creatures. Some have insatiable desires, wanting everything, while others are indifferent to it all. If everyone could balance these traits, wouldn’t the world be harmonious?”
“That’s an idealized utopia, a dream that will never come true,” Sofia said.
If such harmony were possible, the world might as well end.
They both sighed and stopped talking.
Sylvia continued scrolling through Instagram, seeing posts about Kassidy Schneider and Joyful Jewelry. Seeing how her fans idolized her, Sylvia kept mentally calling them brain–dead.
She couldn’t understand how such fans existed, finding it amusing.
However, she suddenly became curious about what her own fans would be like.
The other day, she had Otis Frank design a fan club setup, starting with a fan name.
Otis suggested calling her fans “Oranges” or “Orange Juice,” to make it sound cute.
Sylvia found it ridiculous and wanted to refuse, but Otis insisted, “Sylvia, trust me. You need to go with my suggestion for the fan name.”
Sylvia resigned herself, knowing she lacked the talent for naming things.
She agreed to “Oranges” as the fan name.
Otis also designed a fan logo, a cute cartoon orange, which looked quite adorable.
However, “cute” and Sylvia didn’t quite match.
Sylvia showed it to Sofia, hoping she would talk some sense into Otis.
To her surprise, Sofia liked the design and even supported Otis with some funding.
Sylvia nearly fainted on the spot, feeling Sofia was deliberately making things difficult for her.
But she couldn’t argue with Sofia, who she relied on for earning money, so she had to accept it.
