Chapter 104 Then Just Suffer
Sofia Schneider brought in the porridge and said to Older Mr. Hart, “Grandpa, I made lunch for you too. You didn’t eat much yesterday, so please go have some now.”
Older Mr. Hart had adopted a principle: to listen to Sofia’s requests without hesitation.
So, when she asked him to eat, he left Nathaniel Hart’s room without any delay.
Nathaniel could only sigh helplessly at his grandfather’s obedience.
Sofia walked over to Nathaniel and said, “You can’t sit up yet, so I brought a straw. Sip the porridge slowly and don’t strain yourself, okay?”
Nathaniel responded, “Got it, Sofia. I’m not a child.”
Sofia laughed, “Right now, you’re less capable than a child.”
A child wouldn’t need this much care.
Nathaniel sighed, feeling even more helpless, and asked, “Sofia, when can I stand up?”
“Your recovery is going better than I expected. If nothing goes wrong, you should be able to move around freely in three days,” Sofia said.
Of course, this depended on her administering post–operative treatments over the next three days to help his back heal quickly and restore his nerves to optimal condition.
This process wouldn’t be easy.
Sofia planned to put Nathaniel into a deep sleep as much as possible to help him absorb the medication better.
However, she didn’t intend to tell Nathaniel about this plan.
She knew Nathaniel would likely refuse the sedatives, wanting to stay awake and watch her treat him.
Nathaniel was already looking forward to standing up, moving freely, and returning to his old self in three days.

The first thing he wanted to do was hug Sofia tightly and tell her how grateful he was.
And how much he loved her.
The word “love” appeared in Nathaniel’s mind, making him a bit dazed.
He had only thought about keeping Sofia by his side, knowing he was interested in her and liked her.
But he had never considered that he might actually love her.
The word “love” was heavy for Nathaniel.
He didn’t love easily.
In the past, he thought he might be incapable of love, not needing a woman, a wife, or children.
But now, Nathaniel’s thoughts had completely changed.
Realizing he loved Sofia made everything clear
He understood his heart now.
Sofia noticed Nathaniel zoning out and leaned closer, asking, “What are you thinking about?”
She had let the porridge cool before bringing it over, to prevent Nathaniel from getting burned.
But now, with the straw right by his mouth, he wasn’t moving.
This made her a bit frustrated. If he kept spacing out, the porridge would get cold.
Nathaniel snapped out of it and saw Sofia’s face up close.
Without thinking, he turned his head and kissed her lips.
It was a light kiss, but it startled Sofia.
She hadn’t expected Nathaniel to do that.

After he pulled away, her first reaction was to check if his movement had aggravated his wound.
Luckily, since she had been so close, Nathaniel hadn’t moved much.
Sofia glared at Nathaniel and said, “Do you realize you need to be careful with every move you make? Are you trying to ruin all my hard work?”
Nathaniel was amused by her angry reaction.
He had worried she might be mad at him for kissing her.
But she was only upset that he might have hurt himself, which meant she didn’t mind his kiss.
Although Sofia had agreed to be with him and become his wife, Nathaniel still felt unsure.
He knew Sofia was a very responsible woman.
From the moment she joined the Hart family, she had taken on her role as his wife seriously.
Even if she didn’t have feelings for him, she would fulfill her duties.
But that didn’t mean she loved him.
The kiss made Nathaniel think she might love him, or at least could love him.
This realization made Nathaniel very happy.
He chuckled softly and then said, “If I stay still, will you kiss me?”
Sofia was stunned, not expecting such a question.
She didn’t know how to respond.
She hadn’t realized she had been kissed earlier because she was so worried about
Nathaniel.
Now, hearing his question, she remembered what had just happened.
Sofia blushed and stood up quickly, stepping back.

Pointing at Nathaniel, she stammered, “You… you… don’t bully me.”
Nathaniel laughed even harder until his back pain made him stop.
“Sofia, my back hurts,” Nathaniel said.
Sofia knew why he was in pain.

How could this man be so annoying?!
Nathaniel loved her reaction. The bigger her response, the more she cared.
And the more she cared, the more it showed she had feelings for him.
But Nathaniel couldn’t stay happy for long.
His back pain was real. Lying on the bed, he couldn’t laugh anymore.
His breathing became heavier, and Sofia had to come back over, feeling exasperated.
“I told you not to move, but you never listen,” Sofia said.
Can he still laugh so happily now? Can he?
Nathaniel panted and said, “Yes, you’re right, dear. I was wrong. I won’t do it again.”
Sofia felt very helpless; her new husband seemed a bit naughty.
