Chapter 1 The Perfect Candidate
“Sofia Schneider, you haven’t been home for how many days!”
Sofia had just finished a grueling 20–hour surgery and was utterly exhausted when she returned to her office.
There, she found her grandfather, Benson Schneider, sitting on the sofa. The moment he opened his mouth, his uncontrollable anger erupted at her.
Sofia glanced at Benson, understanding immediately. It was about the ongoing family discussions lately. She had thought this matter wouldn’t involve her.
Benson said, “You know, the Hart family’s child is now of marrying age. The head of the Hart family has chosen our child from among many wealthy heiresses. But your two sisters are already committed, and your younger sister is still too young. So, I think you’re the best choice. to marry into the Hart family.”
Sofia’s face didn’t change at his words, but she felt it was ironic inside.
The Hart family was incredibly powerful and a top–tier wealthy family.
Though they ranked only third on the public wealth list, elite families knew they were discreet. If their true wealth were exposed, they might easily be the richest in the world.
The Schneider family, although also on the wealth list, was only at the bottom.

the Schneider family, naturally, the Schneiders would prefer it to be one of their truly cherished girls.
However, the third child of the Hart family had been paralyzed in a high–level accident six months ago, and Sofia had performed the surgery with her mentor.
Sofia stayed silent for a while, clearly testing Benson’s patience, there was no doubt that anger was rising in his heart.
In the past, he would have shouted loudly. Today, however, he endured.

Just as he to speak again, Sofia finally reacted, raising her eyes to Benson and asking, “Can I refuse?”
Benson snorted coldly, “Refuse? The family has raised you for so long; it’s time you did something for the family.”
Naturally, he decided on her marriage, and she had no choice but to
agree.
Benson looked at Sofia’s indifferent face, commanding more firmly, “It’s decided then. I will reply to the Hart family and set your marriage. After you marry into the Hart family, don’t forget, you are a daughter of the Schneider family. ”
“So?”
“You must always consider the Schneider family in everything you do. Remember your parents, your uncle and aunt, and your siblings. You must always help them.”
Sofia couldn’t help but sneer inwardly. She had been brought back to the Schneider family at the age of seven but had never truly been part

Moreover, she hadn’t even married into the Hart family yet, and Benson was already thinking about future benefits.
All Sofia wanted now was to get rid of her profit–driven grandfather as quickly as possible. She nodded and said, “I understand.”
After all, whether to do it or not would be her decision.
Seeing nothing unusual in Sofia’s mind, Benson gave a few more instructions before leaving.
The office finally quieted down. Sofia rubbed her forehead.
After a moment’s hesitation, Sofia took off her white coat and left the
office.
As soon as she stepped out of the hospital, she was trying to hail a cab when a black car slowly stopped in front of her.
Then, a figure in black got out of the car and respectfully said to her, “Miss Schneider, our master would like to invite you as a guest.”
Sofia didn’t ask who the master was, and the hospital entrance was not a place for conversation as well. She nodded slightly and got into the
back seat.
The car slowly drove towards Hart’s old residence. The grand buildings in sight made Sofia admire them, despite her lack of interest.
It’s no wonder the Schneider family regarded this marriage so seriously.
With the greedy nature of the Schneider family, they probably thought the cervants‘ quarters of the Hart family must be incredibly

Sofia was led into the study where an elderly man with white hair was reading.
She didn’t approach or speak but quietly stood aside, trying to minimize her presence.
Finally, when the master of the Hart family realized someone had come, he looked up at Sofia.
At that time, her legs had already stiffened, supported only by determination.
“You’ve been standing for so long just now. Did you blame me?” Older Mr. Hart said.
“No,” Sofia shook her head. In fact, she had long forgotten.
“That’s good,” Older Mr. Härt didn’t continue the topic but said, “Come with me to see my grandson.”
“Okay,” Sofia responded, hesitating before not going to help Older Mr.
Hart.
Even so, she saw that Older Mr. Hart’s left foot was slightly lame.
Older Mr. Hart noticed Sofia’s hesitation and sighed silently again.
This was also a child with a strong sense of caution. Pairing her with his grandson was indeed worrisome.

The environment here was more quiet, and the faint fragrance of flowers in the air made her feel particularly peaceful.
In the center of the courtyard, there was also a small fountain gurgling with water, which reminded her of the mountain stream she used to play with her mentor before she was seven years old.
Sofia suddenly felt a pang of sadness. She really missed her mentor.
As Older Mr. Hart entered, Sofia first noticed not the person lying on the sickbed but the array of sophisticated instruments filling the room, which she couldn’t help but admire.
Even their hospital didn’t have such advanced equipment. These were probably the most top–notch instruments in the world.
Sofia curled her fingers, feeling an irresistible itch in her heart.
She really wanted to try these instruments. If she could understand them and use them in the hospital, maybe more difficult diseases could be solved.
“Nathaniel, how do you feel today?” Older Mr. Hart had already gone to the bed first and looked at his grandson lying on the bed, his voice. trembling uncontrollably.
Nathaniel Hart lay flat on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, as if his soul had long departed from his body, oblivious to Older Mr. Hart’s
concern.
When Sofia came over, she saw such a lifeless face.
This wasn’t the first time she had seen Nathaniel.

At that time, he was covered in blood, with burns all over his body. She and her mentor, along with the most authoritative doctors from various hospital departments, were entirely focused on saving him.
That surgery involved dozens of doctors taking turns for over forty hours to pull him back from the brink of death.
Sofia only participated in the first half, so she had no idea that such a miserable man could have such a handsome face.
