Chapter 85
Leroy paused and waited for Scarlett to respond.
Scarlett simply looked at the documents, realizing that leaving the hospital meant they wouldn’t be responsible if anything happened to her. She nodded and replied nervously, “I’ll sign it. Cedric’s situation is more important.”
Observing this, Leroy fell silent, overwhelmed by a whirlwind of emotions. He couldn’t believe that she would go to such extremes for Cedric. The pain after the steroid injection was often unbearable for most people.
“I respect your decision.” With that, Leroy turned away to begin his preparations.
Grace gazed at Scarlett, her eyes filled with desperation. “Lettie, are you truly prepared to stand against the entire board for Cedric?”
Scarlett simply nodded in determination. “Cedric is alone and needs my help now more than ever. Besides, I was wrong initially, so I need to explain myself.”
Grace gazed at her thoughtfully. “Have you ever considered that Cedric might have been lying to gain something from you?”
Scarlett frowned. “Grace, are you still doubting Cedric? 1 thought you recognized his good qualities, but I’m disappointed.”
She then refused to talk to Grace further, her expression icy. She gestured dismissively, instructing, “Just wait for me outside.”
Grace’s expression soured upon hearing this
When Leroy returned, he spotted Grace in the corridor. “This is for her. It’ll only last 12 hours, and she must return to the hospital afterward.“
Grace gazed at the syringe Leroy had presented to her. After a moment of hesitation, she accepted it. “Dr. Olson, I appreciate your care for Lettie. Regardless of tomorrow’s outcome, you won’t be implicated.”
From her perspective as an observer of the relationship, she recognized that Leroy had suffered the most throughout the entire situation.
“Ms. Farmer, these are Ms. Payne’s personal matters. They don’t concern me at all. Once she’s discharged from the hospital, I’ll have no further interest,” Leroy stated before walking away.
In the afternoon, Grace took Scarlett out of the hospital, but it appeared that the two had an argument.
Zoe stood by the window, her gaze fixed on the car as it drove away. She sighed in relief and shook her head. “I truly hope she doesn’t retum. If she does, it’ll only mean more trouble for you.”
Leroy glanced over and advised, “It’s wrong for you to think that way. It would be wise to abandon that idea immediately. Otherwise, your evaluation could be at risk”
Leroy’s words sparked a surge of anxiety in Zoe. With an eager expression, she pleaded, “Mr. Olson, you must help me.”
Leroy replied, “It depends on your performance. Treat the patients better.”
Zoe pouted but eventually agreed.
Meanwhile, Scarlett decided to visit the company instead of returning to the villa. By the time she arrived, the workday had already concluded, leaving the office completely empty.
“Those are the latest documents and contracts. Let me know if they’re okay, and I’ll take you back.”
Grace stood at the door, curiosity sparkding in her eyes. She was puzzled by Scarlett’s unexpected arrival at the company, questioning why she hadn’t gone to the villa first to seek Cedric out.
“It’s okay. You can leave the syringe. I’ll stay at the company tonight, Scarlett said, turning on her computer and frowning at the game software.
“Dr. Olson had advised you to prioritize your health. How can you possibly stay overnight at the office?” Grace tried to convince Scarlett, but the latter was resolure.
