Zoe appeated flustered. She asked, “Mr. Olson, what brings you here today?”
she realized she had said something wrong, but it was too late to fix it. All she could do was lower her head and stand in silence.
Leroy sighed. “Never mind. I won’t fuss with you. I’ve got something for you to eat.”
His words brought an immediate smile to Zoe’s face. Just as she took the container, Grace unexpectedly knocked on the door.
Grace was surprised to see Leroy again but quickly composed herself. She asked sincerely, “Dr. Olson, can we have Lettie discharged from the hospital early?”
Leroy frowned. “Why does she want to be discharged from the hospital now? Her injuries haven’t fully healed.”
From a doctor’s standpoint, it would be unwise for Scarlett to be discharged from the hospital at that moment.
Grace also recognized the seriousness of the situation, but she still had to do it. She was emotional, and her eyes filled with tears. “Dr. Olson, I’m begging you.”
Leroy remained silent, his gaze fixed on Grace. With a sense of helplessness, he simply nodded. “There’s an option, but the circumstance is quite unique.”
Grace quickly nodded in agreement. “Dr. Olson, she only needs to be discharged for one day,”
Leroy furrowed his brow, immediately sensing that something was amiss. “Ms. Farmer, I’m a doctor. I have the right to understand the reasons behind your actions. Otherwise, I won’t be able to assist you.”
Grace felt completely helpless. “There’s been an issue with the board. Scarlett needs to be there in person.”
Leroy was taken aback. “Did Scarlett agree with it?”
He looked at Grace, who was shocked. “Lettie will definitely go. This is about Cedric.”
After learning about the situation conceming Cedric, he chose to stop inquiring.
Upon hearing this, Zoe stepped forward without hesitation. “Mr. Olson, you wouldn’t consider giving Scarlett an injection, would you? Given her current physical state, it’s in her best interest to remain in a wheelchair.”
Leroy shook his head. “Let’s check on Scarlett first.”
His footsteps grew increasingly heavy as they approached the ward, where Scarlett was already waiting.
“Why is everyone here? What’s going on?” Scarlett inquired, feeling puzzled.
Grace took a step forward. “The board will convene for an upper management meeting tomorrow, and they expect your presence.
Scarlett was confused but quickly started to understand. “Why do they need me for no reason? Is it because of Cedric?
Grace nodded in response. “The board is serious this time.”
Upon reading the email, she could sense the board’s frustration boiling over. The thought weighed heavily on Grace as she tumed to Leroy beside her. “We need your assistance, Dr. Olson”
Scarlett was bewildered as her eyes sharpened with alertness. “What are you planning to do?
Leroy replied coldly, “We can discharge you for one day, but we must also respect the patient’s wishes.”
He passed Scarlett a document, saying, “The steroid injection will allow your legs to move temporarily. But it might be painful for a few days and could slow your healing Irecommend you to stay in the hospital. If you must leave, you should use a wheelchair.”
