Chapter 80
Cedric leaned in closer when he heard his mother’s remaak He said, “Well, well, well isn’t this Ms. Middleton? Are you two out on a date?”
Valda immediately realized something. “Now that’s more like it. Finding a partner is all about matching social status. Look at yourself. How dare you even think about pursuing Scarlett?” She sneered, her words sharp and cutting
Leroy simply frowned, choosing not to engage.
Valda scoffed at his silence. She felt like she had won the upper hand.
Cedric snorted before saying “Mom, you have no idea what Scarlett is like, She’s not someone anyone can just mess with.”
Leroy had no intention of staying and was eager to leave. But with every step he took back, the Relds only grew bolder.
“Leroy, I’m warning you Don’t do anything you’ll regret. You’re a doctor. You should focus on your job!”
Just as Leroy was about to walk away, Cedric added, “Don’t think you can reignite something with Lettle just because she’s in the hospital. You’re not good enough for her. How dare you even try!”
Leroy frowned and instinctively glanced at Yvonne. Her expression had subtly changed after hearing their conversation. She realized that it was Scarlett that Leroy had always cared about. Suddenly, everything clicked into place for her
Cedric continued, “Ms. Middleton, you need to open your eyes. Don’t let this situation push you into settling for a jerk
He sneered, but Yvonne just smiled. She retorted, “I don’t need a homewrecker telling me what to do. It’s bold of you to speak so confidently after meddling in someone else’s marriage. You’re just like your mother”
Yvonne’s words dripped with sarcasm, aimed not only at Cedric but also at his mother. It was this remark that truly set Valda off.
“You little brat! We’re just trying to give you some advice, and you have the nerve to talk back? My son is the COO of Payne Group! Believe me, I can make your life miserable!” Her words instantly grabbed everyone’s attention.
Cedric sensed the tension and quickly tried to intervene. “Mom, stop. Let’s go.
But Valda just scoffed, “What’s there to be afraid of? Didn’t Ms. Payne already agree to your request? What are you scared of? Her gaze was locked on Leroy. “I’m going to teach him a lesson today, no matter what!”
Valda was taking out all her pent–up frustrations on Leroy.
People nearby began to record the scene discreetly. They thought that the videos could be worth a lot, given all the drama revolving around Payne Group recently
“COO? I’ve never heard of that. Didn’t you just return from abroad?” Yvonne asked, puzzled.
Valda adopted an air of arrogance. “My son is very capable. He’s become a trusted aide to Ms. Payne and is even acting as her proxy while she’s away. How could you possibly compare to him?” Her eyes were filled with contempt as she looked at Leroy.
Leroy gave her only a fleeting glance. “In that case, I wish you all the best in keeping that position. He saw through the situation with ease.
Although he wasn’t familiar with the company, he was certain that the old–timers there wouldn’t tolerate Cedric’s arrogance for long.
He figured that it was probably Scarlett who had arranged all of this.
