Chapter 79
Scarlett couldn’t help but feel upset at hearing her marriage criticized by someone so young.
Noticing Scarlett’s agitation, Zoe simply smiled without offering any explanation. She turned to leave with her in
inters instead.
Scarlett slammed her fist onto the bed in frustration. She could only grit her teeth and endure it.
Meanwhile, Leroy was already on his way to meet someone.
“Leroy, you’re quite the busy bee, aren’t you? Weren’t you supposed to be off yesterday? I heard you went to the hospital.”
Yvonne’s eyes were filled with curiosity. Leroy was surprised by her question. He quickly realized that Olivia had probably mentioned it, which was why Yvonne had come looking for him.
With a sigh, Leroy replied, “It was just a patient. I was only taking care of them.”
After briefly pausing, he added, “So, where would you like to go today? I’ll keep you company.”
Yvonne was momentarily taken aback, her eyes widening in surprise. But she quickly regained her composure.
“Leroy, you’ve changed. Did something good happen at the hospital?”
Leroy glanced at himself, clearly puzzled, “What’s different? I don’t see anything,” he replied, genuinely curious,
Yvonne smiled knowingly. “Maybe you just don’t realize it yourself. The first time I met you, you seemed so gloomy. But now, you’re much more cheerful”
She smiled warmly at him, and Leroy returned it with a faint smile of his own. He asked, “Why wouldn’t I smile? Things were bothering me before, but everything’s fine now.”
As he spoke, a bitter taste lingered in his mouth. He had poured his heart and soul into those three years, but sadly, some people just didn’t care.
“Leroy, what are you thinking about?” she asked.
Leroy snapped back to reality at the sound of her voice. “Nothing much. I was just thinking about something.”
Yvonne sighed. “Leroy, if you’re worried about the hospital, why don’t we just head back now? It will affect me if you’re going to be distracted the whole time. I don’t want you thinking about someone else while we’re here.
Her words conveyed a playful flirtation hint, but Leroy didn’t pick up on it. Instead, he just felt like she was complaining.
“I’m really sorry, Yvonne. Maybe we should meet another time,” he apologized.
But when Yvonne heard this, she shook her head slightly. “Leroy, you don’t need to apologize to me. You’re a responsible doctor; honestly, I’m quite happy about that. I wonder who’s lucky enough to have a doctor like you.”
Leroy felt a pang of guilt after hearing this. Did Scarlett really feel lucky?
“Well, at least buy me a cup of coffee. We’re already out, and if I return this early, my dad will definitely ask questions.”
As soon as Yvonne said this, Leroy realized she had a point. After a moment of thought, he agreed.
When they arrived at the coffee shop, they spotted Cedric and Valda.
When Leroy spotted them, his brow furrowed, and he instinctively wanted to leave.
But Valda had already noticed him.
“Isn’t that Leroy? Why aren’t you at the hospital?”
