Chapter 76
Valda snatched the thermal container away without saying a single word. When she saw that the soups
ip was untouched, her eyes narrowed slightly.
“When Cedric first told me about this, I didn’t quite believe him, but now I see, you really are shameless.” Valda raised her voice, drawing the attention of the crowd.
However, Leroy remained unbothered and simply glanced at her. “The patient is already weak, yet you brought soup with spices. Aren’t you just making things worse?
As soon as he said this, everyone around him understood.
Valda froze momentarily, then quickly began to rant, saying, “How should I know if you were doing this on purpose? After all, the person in there is your ex–wife. And she’s the CEO of Payne Group. You’re just saying this because you want to win her back”
With those words, she had everyone’s attention once more.
Seeing this, Valda grew even more arrogant. “Most of you probably don’t know this, but Dr. Olson is already divorced. Yet, he’s still holding on to his ex–wife. Isn’t that suspicious?”
She couldn’t help b
but mock him further “I really don’t understand how someone like you became a doctor. How could you still have the nerve to cling to her?”
However, the people around her just exchanged slight, doubtful glances. Clearly, they didn’t believe her.
“Isn’t Dr. Olson the hospital’s youngest and most promising doctor?
“He doesn’t seem like the type of person to act that way.”
“Maybe this woman is just saying all of this on purpose.”
H
Gradually, everyone began to realize what was happening
“Isn’t she obviously here to humiliate Dr. Olson?”
“How could someone like her be in a hospital?
Leroy glanced at Valda. “Mrs. Reid, this is a hospital, not a place for you slander people. If you don’t believe me, you can always ask Scarlett. I’m sure she’d be more than happy to tell you everything
With that, he turned and walked away without saying another word.
Valda’s confidence wavered. How could she ask Scarlett about this? After all, she had worked hard to earn Scarlett’s trust in Cedric.
If she messed it up now, all her efforts would have been in vain. She glanced down at the thermal container and frowned. She felt that it was such a waste of good
food.
At that moment, Cedric was calmly reviewing the documents on his desk at the company.
“Is this what it feels like to have power?”
He gazed out the window, the grandeur unfolding before him. It was the same view Scarlett had once admired, and now it was his turn to take it all in.
Just then, a knock echoed at the door, causing him to turn instinctively.
He saw Grace standing in the doorway
“Ms. Farmer, I’ve been doing exactly what you asked–nothing at all,” Cedric said, grinning, his gaze fixed on Grace,
Gicace frowned. “Stop with that smug look,” she snapped. “The board hasn’t made any decisions yet. So, that’s actually good news for us.”
Grace sighed deeply.
But Cedric didn’t seem concerned. “Ms. Farmer, I’m following your instructions. Nothing will go wrong”
However, his words only deepened Grace’s anxiety.
In the past, he would have already started causing trouble. Why was he being so patient now? This only made her more curious.
He maintained his smile.
“Ms. Farmer, when can you arrange for my mother and the others to start working here?” he asked, watching her closely for any sign of a reaction. Grace frowned in response.
