Chapter 65
“Really? Grace, you’re finally willing to believe in Cedric? Lassure you, he’s going to surprise you.”
Scarlett sounded like a lovesick tool, but Grace was becoming somewhat limmune to it.
“Then just rest up in the hospital
“You go talk to Cedric yourself. Tell him to come to the company tomorrow.” With that, Grace hung up the phone.
A smile spread across Scarlett’s face. She hadn’t expected this.
Once Scarlett was certain, she immediately informed Cedric, Cedric was stunned when he heard the news.
“I didn’t hear that wrong, did t? You’re serious?” He sounded excited.
Scarlett sighed. “Don’t get too excited. She’s only agreed to let you in, but the board will still make their move.
“Grace will buy you a couple of weeks. You just need to stabilize the company during that time. Don’t let me down.”
Scarlett had chosen Cedric precisely to give him a chance to prove himself. She was determined to show that Cedric was better than Leroy.
“Lettie, I’ll definitely do well! Do you want anything to eat? I’ll bring it over.”
After a few more words, Scarlett hung up the phone. She let out a long sigh of relief. Finally, things were starting to fall into place.
Meanwhile, Cedric shared the news with Valda Valda was overjoyed when she heard it.
“This is just the first step,” she said. “Once you win Scarlett over, half the company will be yours!”
Valda’s smile made Cedric even more excited.
“Mom, make some nourishing soup. I’ll bring it over later and show Scarlett our sincerity.”
Cedric spoke with enthusiasm, and his mother immediately agreed. But as soon as she tumed around, she placed an order for takeout.
When Cedne arrived at Scarlett’s with the takeout, he tried to control the smile on his face.
“Lettie, I prepared this just for you,” Cedric said with a smile, lifting the lid quickly.
However, a strong, pungent aroma of spices tilled the air. Scarlett frowned, her face showing clear resistance.
“I think I’ll pass for now,” she replied, then shutted the conversation to the Incident involving Cedric that night.
Cedric hesitated for a moment, a flicker of panic crossing his face, but he quickly regained his composure.
“It was just some idiot, but I didn’t bother with him. Thankfully, it wasn’t anything too serious”
He feigned anger, but Scarlett only nodded,
Outside the ward, Leroy stared down at the soup in his hands with a hint of helplessness on his face. He had wanted Scarlett to be discharged soon, so he had personally cooked a pot of soup for her.
But it was too late. Scarlett no longer cared enough to spare him a second glance. With a wry smile, Leroy turned and headed back to the ward,
Zoe quickly stepped forward. “It smells amazing, Mr. Olson! Did you make this?” Zoe exclaimed excitedly.
“Go ahead and have some. I made it just for you.”
“Thank you, Mr. Olson!”
Leroy didn’t say it outright, but Zoe could tell the soup was likely meant for Scarlett. However, unable to resist the tempting aroma, Zoe took it with a smile and started sharing it with the interns.
Leroy watched them with a feeling of weariness settli
settling over him. He wondered when he would finally be able to move on from Scarlett. Lately, it seemed like everything was somehow connected to her, and Leroy was starting to feel exhausted.
