Chapter 62
Valda stood by the door outside the examination room with her eyes wide in panic. She hadn’t expected Leroy to find out.
A gnawing worry began to take hold of her. If Cedifc was exposed, Scarlett would undoubtedly be furious.
With that thought in mind, Valda quickened her pace.
Inside the examination room, Cedric and Grace were still waiting for Scarlett to wake up. Suddenly, Valda burst in
“Cedric, come with me,” she demanded.
Cedric was about to refuse, especially with Grace present, but valda pulled him out without hesitation. Once they were alone, Valda’s expression shifted.
“Leroy knows now. He was waming you just outside the operating room.”
As soon as she finished speaking, a wave of concem washed over Valda.
“I can’t believe this happened. You were so careless! How could you let yourself get exposed? If Leroy tells Scarlett, how are you ever going to win her over?” Cednc clenched his teeth, unable to respond.
“Mom, what do we do? We’re not even mamed yet!” he exclaimed, his voice tinged with panic.
“II she finds out, she’ll never forgive us.”
For a moment, Cedric even thought of hiring someone to teach Leroy a lesson.
“You’re in a hospital, you idiot,” Valda snapped. “If you try something like that, Leroy will definitely retaliate.”
After a moment’s thought, she flashed him a sly smile. “It’s simple. We don’t need you to say a word. We’ll let Scarlett handle it,” “Mom, Leroy’s the attending physician. Scarlett isn’t going to say anything harsh,” Cedric said, his tone laced with concem. However, Valda simply dismissed him with a wave of her hand.
“I happen to know a secret. Scarlett’s accident was caused by a phone call from Leroy. She was driving at the time and got distracted.” Valda paused before continuing, “All you need to do is make Scarlett resent Leroy. Once that happens, nothing he says will matter.” Cedric smirked.
When Scarlett woke up, it was already evening. Grace had to leave early due to work
Cedric, who had been dozing off, quickly sat up when he heard a sound. “Lettie, are you feeling better now?”
His eyes were filled with concern.
Scarlett slowly regained her senses and realized she was in the hospital. Instinctively, she tried to sit up but Cedric quickly stopped her.
“Lettie, take it easy. The doctor said you’re not fully recovered yet. You’ll need to stay here for a few more days to rest.” After saying this, a look of worry crossed Cedric’s face.
Noticing the concern in his eyes, Scarlett immediately sensed that something was wrong.
“Why can’t I feel my legs?” she asked, pande rising in her voice as she grabbed onto him. Memories from the past three years flooded back, overwhelming her all at once.
Her body trembled uncontrollably, and fear consumed her. She felt completely
ly helpless.
Seeing her distress, Cedric quickly pulled her into his arms. “Lettie, don’t be afraid. Everything’s going to be okay. You just have a cast on your leg.”
“But what happened? How did you end up in a car accident?” Cedric probed.
Scarlett was already overwhelmed with fear.
