Chapter 44
Cedric carefully spun the story to paint himself in the best possible light.
Scarlett listened, her expression growing increasingly perplexed. She hadn’t expected Leroy to behave the way Cedric described.
“I’ll take care of it,” Scarlett said curtly, standing up and heading for the door
Grace quickly moved to block her path “Lettie, you can’t just walkout in the middle of a meeting. The board and senior management are still inside,” she reminded her, her tone finn
“If you leave now, it’s only going to stir up more dissatisfaction among the executives.”
Cedric scoffed, “Who cares about them? She’s the CEO. Are you really going to let some high–level suits tell you what to do?” he sneered, casting Grace a mocking glance. “And what about you, Grace? For a secretary, you sure like to overstep.”
scarlett’s eyes flicked between the two, her expression indifferent. “The meeting is almost over. Wrap it up for me,” she said to Grace before turning on her heel and heading out with Cedric
Grace let out a resigned sigh and walked back into the conference room, but the tension in the air was palpable.
The upper management had heard Scarlett’s dismissive comments, and their faces were a mix of frustration and offense.
important?”
“So, this is how things are rum now? The CEO leaves us in the hands of her secretary while she deals with… whatever personal matters she deems more in one of the senior managers said with a cold laugh.
“Maybe Ms. Payne thinks we’re all too old and irrelevant to be worth her time,” another added sarcastically
Grace’s patience was stretched thin, but she forced herself to remain professional. “Let’s not jump to conclusions. Scarlett had an urgent matter to attend to, but we can still continue the discussion,” she said diplomatically,
The upper management didn’t seem convinced
“Frankly, there’s no point in continuing this meeting. We’ll be reporting this incident to the board. Let them decide what to do next,” one of them declared, standing up and signaling the others to follow suit
The room emptied one by one, leaving Grace exasperated alone. “Scarlett’s going to regret this later,” she sighed.
Leroy was about to leave outside the hospital when he noticed a familiar license plate. “Is Scarlett here?” he wondered.
The thought barely registered before Leroy shook his head. Of course not. If she’s here, it’s probably because of Cedric “Leroy! Finally!” Cedric’s voice rang out, cutting through Leroy’s thoughts.
Cedric stormed toward him, his face a mix of indignation and fury. “I was starting to think you were too scared to show your face!”
Leroy glanced at him briefly and sighed. “It Mr. Black hit you, maybe you should take it up with him,” Leroy replied, his tone cool and detached. “I don’t have the time or the patience for this.”
As he turned to leave, Cedric grabbed his am. “You’re not going anywhere,” Cedric snapped.
“Noor of this would’ve happened if you hadn’t stirred the pot. Samuel wouldn’t have hit me if you hadn’t poisoned him against me. Leroy let out a dry laugh, clearly losing what little patience he had left. “I didn’t do anything to you, Cedric Why would I apologize for something I didn’t do?” e. You owe me an apology!” Nevertheless, Cedric refused to backdown
“I don’t care! Someone has to take responsibility, and since this all happened at your hospital, you’re the one who has to apologize!” he s enough to draw a small crowd.

Curious onlookers began to gather, whispering amongst i

This tirade.
“Take a good look, everyone! This hospital refuses to take responsibility when things go wrong. And this so–called doctor? He not only refused to treat me but also encouraged others to attack me! Cedric said, his voice trembling with faux outrage.
The mumurs in the crowd grew louder, with many exchanging skeptical glances.
“Is this true? Doctors aren’t supposed to act like that,” someone said,
