Love Fades into Darkness 7

Chapter

We don’t need these anymore. You can buy them again in the future,Ian said cryptically

Leila and Connor would buy new ones once they got married, after all

Ian headed back upstairs after throwing the things. He happened to hear Leila on the phone with her voice lowered. Don’t worry, Connor. I’ll make sure he attends our engagement party.”

Connor scoffed on the other end of the line. I’d like to see the look on his face when he learns his girlfriend of two years is actually my fiancée. He loves being the center of attention, doesn’t he? I’ll make sure he gets the limelight!”

Ian clenched his fists tightly, only loosening them after a long while. He grimaced. It was too bad their plans were

When he entered the apartment, Leila gave him an invitation. I have an event in seven days, Ian. I want you toing to fall through this time

He looked her in the eye for a long time before taking it and saying, Sure.”

Even if he wouldn’t be able to attend the party, he would still prepare an engagement gift for her and

come with me. You have to, alright?”

Over the next few days, Leila used work as an excuse to stay away from home. Ian made the most of it by packing his things

The college threw a graduation party two days before he was due to leave. Though he’d moved out of his dorm long ago, he was still on great terms with his former dormmates and college mates

He would be abroad for at least two years for his studies, so he wanted to use the graduation party as an opportunity to have a proper farewell with his friends. He didn’t expect to see Connor and Leila there, though

Their arms were linked, and Connor smiled innocently at Ian. I knew you were graduating today and gave your girlfriend the day off, Ian. I brought her here so she could congratulate you.”

Ian knew a heart full of evil was hidden underneath Connor’s handsome appearance. He backed away, wanting to keep his distance

However, Connor didn’t seem to notice. He kept moving forward

Ian didn’t notice a champagne tower on the table behind him, but Connor did. The latter’s eyes gleamed before he suddenly cried out and lunged toward the former

Ian instinctively moved back, hitting the champagne tower. Layer upon layer of champagne flutes fell toward him and Connor

Leila didn’t even hesitate as she darted forward to pull Connor back, holding him protectively in her arms. Meanwhile, Ian fell onto the floor, and shards of glass pierced his skin. His blood flowed all over the floor and mixed with the champagne. He was drenched

His surgical wound had yet to fully heal and started bleeding again after being aggravated by the champagne. The blood drained from his face

Ian watched as Leila carefully scanned Connor to see whether he was injured. Suddenly, he seemed to see the figure that had stood protectively before him two years ago. He reached a bloody hand toward it, wanting to catch his only source of warmth

However, he was too weak. His arm fell to his side as he collapsed
