Chapter 20
Enzo didn’t have time to dodge the punch. Adrian sent him flying to the floor.
This was the latter’s first time losing control so thoroughly. He battered Enzo incessantly–he would’ve killed Enzo if not for Andrew rushing over and stopping him.
He ignored his bruised knuckles and gave Enzo an icy look. “Do you hate Liss that much? Why do you keep wanting to ruin her? Do you know how many people were watching her birthday celebration tonight?
“Do you know how many people would’ve seen that useless drone show? What do you expect them to think of her? Will you only stop once you’ve made the whole world turn on her?”
“No, I-“Enzo struggled to get to his feet. As soon as he opened his mouth, blood spurted out.
Then, Adrian kicked him in the chest. “No, what? If not for you meaning something to Liss, you would’ve died on the day you stepped foot in Angleria!”
Adrian’s kick rendered Enzo unable to move. The former stood there, his voice turning menacing as he said, “Today isn’t just Liss‘ birthday–it’s also the day she’s learned that she’s going to be a mother!”
Enzo’s mind went blank, and he stared at Adrian in disbelief. “W–What did you say?”
His strength burst forth, and he shot to his feet, swinging a punch at Adrian. “How dare you! How dare you knock her up when she’s still so young?”
Adrian didn’t move. He watched as the bodyguards he’d brought made Enzo fall onto his back again. “Why wouldn’t I dare? Liss loves me, and I love her. That’s why we’re having a child of our own!
“If you want to talk about daring to do certain things, tell me how you dared to throw Liss into a freezer and almost beat her to death. The Camden family asked you to help care for her, yet you almost killed her. How dare you?”
He snorted when he saw Enzo’s face turn ashen. “Liss is pregnant, but her condition isn’t stable because of you. Stop harassing her if you know what’s good for you.”
Adrian didn’t care what Enzo’s reaction was. All he did was throw away his bloodied coat before returning to the Forrest residence. He cleaned himself up and made sure he didn’t smell of blood before quietly returning to the bedroom.
His gaze softened when he saw Alyssa curled up in bed, carefully protecting her belly. He gently pulled her into his arms and fell asleep.
When Alyssa woke up the following morning, she found herself in Adrian’s embrace. He kissed her when he saw that she was awake and said, “Everything’s been taken care of.” Her heart, which had been uneasy throughout the night, finally settled in her chest again. She snuggled against him and made a soft sound of acknowledgment.
Adrian and Alyssa threw themselves into wedding preparations–they wanted to do it before
everything necessary.

First, they flew back to register their marriage. Then, they had their wedding photos taken. Alyssa couldn’t help finding the whole situation surreal when she thought about her child being in her belly as she had her photos taken.
Soon, it was the day of the wedding. They’d kept things simple, but it was still lavish and opulent.
The wedding was held at Alyssa’s favorite church, and the bouquet consisted of their favorite flowers–roses and jasmine. The wedding gown was one that Adrian had hired someone to design a long time ago. Even the door gifts were trinkets that they’d painstakingly chosen and packed.
To prevent Alyssa from getting worn out, only their closest friends and family had been invited to the wedding. She and Adrian were both utterly focused, from when they made their vows to when they exchanged rings.
When the officiant declared they could kiss each other, they locked lips passionately, only reluctantly breaking apart after a long time. At that moment, they only had eyes for each other.
The wedding was kept so hush–hush that Enzo only heard about it the following day. He still had the urge to get Alyssa back, but he knew he no longer stood a chance.
Every time he shut his eyes, he would think about what Alyssa had said, which had been recorded by the recording device. “The best way to end our relationship is by having a clean break”
He couldn’t do it, though. So, he secretly went to visit her. He started gathering more things that he wanted to give her; he still fantasized about her turning back and taking him back if he could just give the gifts to her.
However, the reality was cruel. He failed to give her even one of the gifts. That wasn’t all–the messages he sent her and calls he gave her went ignored.
Enzo knew the reason but still refused to give up. Alyssa had once loved him with all her heart, and he’d once doted on her like she was a precious treasure. How was she now married to someone else and pregnant with his child?
Still, it didn’t matter how unwilling he was to accept reality.
Ten months later, Alyssa gave birth to a daughter. Adrian went from doting on her endlessly to doting on their daughter endlessly.
Shortly after the baby’s birth, Adrian had already given her presents worth millions of dollars. He and Alyssa had also set up a charitable foundation in her name.
Guests milled about on the day their daughter turned a month old. The gifts they’d brought for her formed a small hill.
Enzo also carefully selected a gift for Alyssa’s daughter: Adilan and Alyssa hadn’t allowed any photos of their daughter to appear online, perhaps because they wanted to protect her. There was no way to find out what she looked like, but Enzo had heard from others that she resembled Alyssa.
He was dazed upon hearing that. If he hadn’t misunderstood Alyssa and allowed Nadine to come between them, would they have ended up together? Would they also have a child that looked like her?
