In just one year, without the burden of trivial matters, Dmitry focused deeply on his music and unleashed a breathtaking talent.
He released 20 songs, each gaining global attention.
One of his hits, “Lonely City,” brought in millions of dollars and cemented his reputation.
After receiving an award, Caroline playfully teased him.
“Wow, you’re this good and still came here to study? How are the rest of us supposed to survive?”
“It’s a necessity for me. Not like Miss Capet, who’s just here to add some sparkle to her résume,” Dmitry replied, adjusting her slightly askew graduation cap
Feeling the gentle touch of his hand, Caroline’s cheeks flushed. “So, what’s next for you?”
Unbeknownst to him, Caroline had already fallen for the man before her.
Not only was he talented and handsome, but he also cared for her like a big brother, bringing a warmth she hadn’t felt in a long time.
“Me? I might go back home,” Dmitry said, gazing at the distant lawn. “I can’t adopt Quinn abroad, so I want to return and give her a proper home. I also plan to develop the orphanage.”
“That’s such a noble goal. I’m behind you all the way.”
Caroline patted his shoulder. “The Capet family has some influence in California. If the Brown family ever bullies you again, they’ll have to deal with me first”
“Haha, I’ll hold you to that.”
After chatting for a while, Dmitry started heading back to pack his things.
But Caroline, unwilling to part, followed him all the way home.
How about I go to New York with you? We could start a duo!”
Dmitry shook his head. “You won’t get anywhere following me. You should head back to California, or your dad will turn the world upside down looking
for you.
Dmitry had long noticed Caroline’s feelings for him and held her in great affection.
But their differences were too significant. Not only was there an eight–year age gap, but their social backgrounds were worlds apart.
He didn’t want to waste her youth, so he naturally kept his distance.
“Oh, come on! T just want to try my luck in New York. It’s nice to have someone I can rely on,” Caroline pleaded.
No.
Caroline clung to Dmitry’s arm and pouted, but he remained firm about her returning to California.
Just then, the door to his small home opened.
Quinn, seeing the two of them, jumped up excitedly. “Uncle, Auntie, you’re finally here!”
Quinn had already packed her bags early in the day and even prepared a large table full of food.
As the three ate together, Caroline and Quinn exchanged sly glances.
Caroline’s big eyes blusked mischievously, while Quinn responded with an “OK” hand gesture. “Uncle, can Auntie come with us to New York?”
Quinn’s eyes sparkled with hope. “Quinn loves Auntie so much. Please, pretty please?”
Dmitry, watching the two perform their little act, could only smile helplessly.
Eight hours later.
The three of them arrived on the same flight, landing at the New York airport.
Dmitry bought a villa and soon hosted his first concert with Caroline.
Over three months, they poured their passion into the project from writing lyrics to composing, from production to promotion. Dmitry hadn’t felt this alive in a long time.
On the night of the concert, the venue was packed with fans from far and wide.
Just before Dmitry went on stage, his eyes fell on the VIP guest list and noticed two familiar names.
“Dalena”
“Cyril”
