Chapter 24
When Kane woke up again, he found himself nestled in a warm embrace. Willow was the one. holding him. She gently fed him a spoonful of soup when she noticed he was awake, but her tone remained cold.
“Don’t you ever use that pity act again. If you deliberately starve yourself and faint just to get Elena’s attention, next time, I’ll send you straight to the police.”
Kane swallowed the soup and lowered his gaze slightly. “I’m sorry…”
Willow immediately cut off his apology. “There’s no need to say sorry anymore. The damage you’ve done to Elena is beyond forgiveness.
“I’d make sure you felt every ounce of the pain‘ you caused her if you weren’t a child, even if it cost me my life!”
“But I really do know I was wrong now. I can stay here and make up for it. Please don’t kick me
Tears welled up in Kane’s eyes, making him look pitiful.
out
Elena, however, felt no sympathy toward him. She knew his nature well. Right now, he trusted her and was willing to do anything for her.
However, the moment Constance or someone else fed him lies, he could just as easily turn around and hurt her all over again.
As for Robin, the only people he truly cared about were Evangeline and Kane. Everyone else was disposable in his eyes.
Constance had already been a painful lesson. Elena wasn’t about to make the same mistake
again.
“There’s no need. This is the last time I’ll allow you to show up in front of me. I’ve already hired security.
“From now on, every time I see you or your father, I’ll have them kick you out. If you want to keep pushing, then so be it. We’ll just leave again.
“You two are nothing but a burden to me. If your goal is to make me hate you, then go right
ahead.
Elena wasn’t going to fall for Kane’s innocent act anymore. She pushed Kane straight out of the guesthouse once the soup in the bowl was empty.
At that moment, Robin arrived to pick him up. Staring at the tightly shut door, both father and
son wore the same expression of quiet sorrow.
It had always been Elena who tried to please them. So much so that neither of them really knew what she liked, nor did they understand how to please her in return. Their clumsy

attempts at gaining sympathy did nothing.
After hearing what Elena said earlier, Robin was overwhelmed with helplessness. Surrounded by flowers blooming across the courtyard, he quickly called Andrew.
“Help me acquire all kinds of beautiful flowers and flower seeds from around the world and have them shipped to Sutherland.”
A few days later, a truck pulled up outside the guesthouse, packed with a stunning array of flower seeds and blooming flowers of every kind
The grand display caught the attention of many passing tourists. A few knowledgeable ones. gasped, “These are rare varieties from overseas, aren’t they? Just this truckload must cost at least a million!”
Elena sensed something was off and asked the driver, “Who sent all these flowers?”
The driver hesitated for a long while before shaking his head.
“Ms. Larson, please just accept them. Don’t worry about who sent them. He told me not to say.
Elena let out a mocking laugh.
“Even if he doesn’t say, I already know who sent them. Send them back wherever they came from. I don’t want them.
“When you return them, do me a favor and pass along a message to him. Tell him to stop doing meaningless things like this.”
Elena didn’t have the slightest intention of keeping them no matter how much she loved. flowers. The agreement between the two families was long over–she didn’t want to owe him anything.
The driver was reluctant to leave. Just as Elena was about to call the bodyguards to haul the flowers away, an unexpected person appeared in front of her.
“Elena, you ungrateful daughter! You walked away from such a good life with the Marsh family just to live in a place like this? You’ve completely disgraced the Larson family!”
Paul’s face was dark with rage as he raised his hand to slap her. However, Elena quickly dodged and slapped him right back
A sharp crack rang out, leaving a bright red handprint on Paul’s face.
He clutched his cheek in disbelief, feeling furious beyond words. However, before he could spit out the insults burning on his tongue, Elena cut him off.
