He smiled faintly–an expression of sheer resignation.
Chapter 90
Dead, Simon sald
Fran was shocked. The way Simon said it made it sound so tragic,
Looking at him with deep admiration, she felt that he was a noble warrior marching
Under such reverent gazes, Simon resolutely walked out of the office.
marching toward his tate
After the receptionist’s phone call, her attitude toward Samantha shifted.
She suddenly became incredibly attentive, offering food and snacks as if Samantha were some esteemed quest
Feeling a little overwhelmed, Samantha tried to refuse. “You really don’t have to… I just want to see Mr. Garrett. So, does this mean I can see him now?”
“Well.” The receptionist hesitated. She had only been told to take care of Samantha, not to grant her a meeting with Leonardo. Instead, she simply shoved a cake into Samantha’s hands. “Please, enjoy a snack dust.”
“Alright.”
Samantha sighed, realizing she needed a better plan.
11 WAN Long before Simon ved
The receptionist immediately straightened up and greeted him with a respectful bow. “Mr. Moore.”
“You can go back to work now.”
She nodded but couldn’t help sneaking glances toward Samantha, thinking, “Just who is this woman? Even Mr. Moore came down in person to see ber.”
samantha, on the other hand, felt a spark of hope. If Simon was here, that meant she was one step closer to seeing Leonardo.
“Can I see Leonardo now?”
Simon wasn’t bold enough to make
make that deci
decision himself he had only come down to assess the situation.
“Ms. Newton, why are you here to see Mr. Carrett today?
“To apologize.”
“Did you bring anything as a peace offering?” He gestured vaguely with his hands, hinting that a gift might help her case.
“I did “She quickly pulled out the lunchbox. “I brought a meal.”
“Did you make it yourself?”
“Um…y–yeah, kind of,” Samantha stammered
Lying made her nervous, but if she said she didn’t cook it herself, would it still count as a sincere gesture? She would take the risk if this were what it took to get Leonardo’s forgiveness.
Luckily, Simon didn’t overanalyze her answer. His job was easier as long as the lunchbox was for an apology.
“Alright, you can give it to me, and I’ll deliver it to Mr. Gartell. However, I can’t guarantee he’ll accept it.
Samantha hesitated briefly but eventually handed over the lunchbox. “Please try to put in a good word for me.” “I’ll do my best Walt liere’ll update you on any developments,”
“Thank you. I really appreciate it.”
“You’re welcome
Simon took the lunchbox and headed upstairs.
The CEO’s office was on the top floor.
He knocked on the door. “Mr. Garrett, may I come in?
“Sure,” a calm, steady voice responded from inside.
As Simon entered, he saw Leonardo subtly closing his laptoja
On the screen was the • company’s lobby security feed.
Leonardo’s facial expression was unreadable as he asked, “What is it?”
Simon placed the luddox on the desk “Tin sorry. There was an issue with your lunch order. Could this serve as a replacement?“
