Chapter 4,8
Samantha rose to her feet and dragged herself toward the door. Her gait was unsteady, as if she were a zombie.
Layla quickly stepped in front of her. “Hold on! At least let me treat your wounds first, or you’ll end up with a scarl
She sprang into action, rushing to buy medicine, carefully cleaning and dressing Samantha’s wounds, and even hailing a cab.
When she helped the dazed Samantha into the car, she said, “I already paid the fare through the app, so don’t worry about it. When you get home, grab my old phone from my desk drawer and use that for now. And text me when you get thera, okay?”
“Yeah, okay,” Samantha responded absentmindedly.
That night, Samantha had one nightmare after another,
Cynthia looked at her with disappointment. “Samantha, how could you mess up something this simple? After all the years I’ve cared for you. You’ve truly let me down.”
Leonardo, on the other hand, looked at her with disgust, “Don’t you think you’re a litle too full of yourself, Samantha?
Then, she heard Matthew cackling. “These designs were mine all along! Do you know how much money make from them? Furn them all into cash! Every last page!”
Cynthia appeared again, this time shaking her head. “Why can’t you do something so simple? I should never have trusted you with something this important!”
Samantha jolted awake, pasping. Her entire body was drenched in sweat, and her skin felt sticky and uncomfortable. After catching her breath, she forced herself up and went to take a shower.
When she returned to her room, she noticed a message from the student council president, Chlow Lindell.
Inread, “All volumes for the school’s shareholders‘ meeting must arrive on time today. Tardiness will not be colerated.”
Samandlu hadn’t even signed up for this. They had just thrown her name on the list because she was part of the student council. Usually, she wouldn’t have minded, but now she could barely walk without limping. She didn’t think she was suited for the role
She sent a message, saying “I had an accident yesterday and got injured. I don’t think I can make it today. Could you please find someone else to take my place
The response was almost immediate, and it was anything but understanding. “Everything for today’s shareholders‘ meeting was set up beforehand. How could you back out at the last

She didn’t want to run into him.
