Chapter 12
“Who needs that chance?”
Lily quickly wrapped the towel around herself, her face flushed with anger.
Her eyes were tinged with a faint fury as she glared at Xavier, looking at him like an enemy.
Last night, in the company’s lounge, he had just been with Sarah. How could be so casually come to her like this, as if nothing had happened
She couldn’t understand Xavier’s intentions. If he liked Sarah so much, why didn’t he just divorce her and marry her instead?
Did he enjoy sneaking around and playing both sides?
Countless possibilities flooded Lily’s mind, but no matter what the possibility was, she could not accept Xavier touching her again.
Xavier’s neck and shoulders tensed, veins standing out, and his whole presence exuded both. wildness and sensuality,
His hands pressed against the wall behind Lily, his posture like a lion about to pounce.
If Lily angered him further, he could devour her whole in an instant.
“Xavier, do you want to have sex with me because you don’t want to divorce me?”
Lily’s voice trembled, her heart tightening.
She wasn’t sure why she asked the question.
She had thought she was trying to provoke Xavier into mocking her and then letting her go.
But involuntarily, a strange hope stirred inside her–the hope that Xavier would admit that he didn’t want a divorce.
She hoped that he had just made a mistake… and that he would cut ties with Sarah, wanting to spend the rest of his life with her.
“Does divorcing you and having sex with you have anything to do with one another?” Xavier’s fingers, gripping the wall, turned white as his knuckles clenched.
Lily didn’t hesitate. “Yes, it does!”
The fire in Xavier’s eyes began to subside. He smirked coldly, “Stop dreaming, Lily. You’ve crossed the line!”
In the two years of their marriage, he had never seen Lily play such childish games.
It was the first time, and her plan was really stupid.
Someone like her, who couldn’t even understand the subtlety of a game of seduction, was
bound to fail.
He was aware of his own needs, but he could control himself.
This time, he wasn’t going to let Lily get away with this; she would only realize her mistake after it was too late!
With that, he turned and walked out of the roon
The door to the bedroom swung open, and the fresh night air swept in, chasing away the heat that had built up in the room.
Lily
felt as though she had been reborn, taking deep breaths, trying to calm the tumultuous emotions inside her.
But amidst the swirl of feelings, there was no sense of relief from the upcoming divorce.
Later that night, Xavier drove away.
The sound of the Maybach’s engine echoed through the quiet mountains, and Lily lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
Her phone rang with a message from the same unknown number.
She opened her phone and saw a photo.
It was a picture of Xavier and Sarah dining together at a fine dining restaurant.
Xavier’s face was refined and handsome, and Sarah looked happy and radiant. They were the perfect match.
The time stamp on the corner of the photo read 6:00 pm–just before Xavier had returned to the Fulton Manor.
Lily stared at the picture of Xavier’s relaxed, effortless side profile.
She had never seen the warm, gentlemanly version of Xavier.
She sat on the edge of the bed, pulling her knees close to her chest, and spent the whole night wide awake.
The next morning, Lily left before Edith woke up.
If Edith had woken up, she would have asked about Xavier’s late–night departure.
It would have been impossible to explain it away with work excuses, so Lily decided to escape.
She took an Uber and after nearly two hours of traveling, finally arrived at Maryanne’s apartment.
She stepped in, took off her shoes, and walked toward the living room–only to stop abruptly.

The living room didn’t have a TV. The entire wall was a grayish color, with a projector on the opposite side.
On the wall was a picture of Xavier and Sarali, placed right in the center.
Maryanne, who had been half–asleep on the table, jumped up as soon as she saw Lily. She dragged her to the sofa.
“You’re finally back! I’ve come up with a plan to catch the mistress!”
Lily blinked in disbelief, looking at Maryanne. “Catch… the mistress?”
“Don’t say anything yet, just listen to me.”
Maryanne pointed at the picture of Sarah. “Yesterday, I saw her. I knew right away that this woman wasn’t simple, so I did some digging, and guess what? I found some stuff!”
Lily stared intently at the photo of Sarah.
She was genuinely curious about Sarah’s background.
“Do you know that the Fulton family has always been involved in charity, helping poor students go to college?”
to college?” Maryanne asked.
Lily nodded before quickly shaking her head. “I know they do charity, but I never paid much attention to the specifics.”
Back in college, she had only focused on news about the design industry.
Later, after marrying Xavier, she had thrown herself into taking care of him and stopped. following the business news, only remembering a few articles about Xavier’s charity work, but never going into the details.
“Sarah was chosen by the Fulton family at the age of seven from an orphanage. She’s very smart, and the orphanage helped find a good family to sponsor her college education.”
Maryanne paused as she thought about the news she had uncovered. She looked at Lily with
concern.
“Xavier used his pocket money to support Sarah at one of the best schools in Jadeford, and he kept supporting her until she graduated from college and entered Nova Group.”
She kept it short, but with every word, Lily’s face paled further.
Finally, Maryanne threw all the research materials on the table in front of Lily. “Here, take a look for yourself.”
Xavier, as the eldest grandson and only heir, received a one–million–dollar Christmas gift from Edith every year.
The intention behind it was for Xavier to understand the value of money and to appreciate it.
But Shane thought Xavier was too young and that giving him such a large sum would only spoil him.
So, he took Xavier to an orphanage and used the money to sponsor those in need.
However, besides Sarah, there was her younger sister, Xyla
Sarah refused to leave her sister behind, so Xavier took both of them from the orphanage, despite his father’s objections.
Every year, Xavier used his one–million–dollar allowance to support the sisters through school, all the way from elementary school to college.
In the beginning, the money was enough, but as they entered higher studies, the costs began to exceed the budget.
In the end, Xavier had to borrow money from Edith to continue funding their education, and he owed her eight million dollars.
Lily vaguely remembered this debt. Edith had mentioned it, and she had assumed it was a joke She never thought it was real until she saw this.
After Sarah graduated from university, she entered Nova Group, while her sister, Xyla, almost died due to a congenital heart condition and needed a heart transplant abroad.
Xavier even funded her medical bills and sent her overseas for treatment.
“Do you see? Xavier is grooming his own wife. Sarah is obedient and smart, and everything Xavier planned for her, she’s accomplished.”
Maryanne had to admit that Sarah was impressive.
She was so impressive that Maryanne felt inferior.
“But Lily, you can surpass her! No matter how good she is, she’s still just a vice president. You can become a famous designer!”
Lily’s chest tightened, the weight of the revelation heavy on her heart.
Xavier had molded his ideal wife.
Of course, he would be pleased–Sarah and he fit perfectly.
Sarah wondered how long had Sarah and Xavier been together.
If he was already with Sarah, why had he married her
“And there’s something else I want to tell you.” Maryanne hesitated before spilling the rest. “I found out through some insider information that after Sarah graduated, the Fulton family wanted to send her abroad, but Xavier wouldn’t let her go.
“He insisted on keeping her here, so I think he was already involved with her then. He married

you because he knew the Fulton family wouldn’t approve of him marrying Sarah, so he married you to keep up appearances and still had an affair with her.
“So, have you ever thought about not getting a divorce? You’re the legitimate wife, you’ll have everything house, wealth, and the Fulton family’s fortune.
“Sarah will always be the mistress, never able to hold her head high!” Maryanne’s suggestion. was serious. “There are too many couples in the business world who live this way.”
The Fulton family fortune was a huge temptation.
