Evelyn came from a long line of businessmen and only interacted with the officials when it was absolutely necessary. She wasn’t too clued in on the personal dramas of those folks. This morning, while feeling a sense of déjà vu around Zoey, it suddenly clicked-there was a high-profile Harper family amongst Glovin’s elites. Gossip had it that the Harpers were dealing with a rebellious daughter who pursued acting against the family’s traditional business path, and that daughter was Zoey. The current patriarch, Zoey’s father, doted on her, his only treasure. He didn’t actively push her acting career but didn’t block it either; he let Zoey carve her own path in show business. As for the other Harper kids, well, they didn’t make headlines much.

If she hadn’t made that choice back then… Maybe, just maybe, she’d be enjoying the picture-perfect family life that Zoey seemed destined for, right?

“What a bad sister you are?!” A cold voice suddenly sounded at the door. Zoey immediately stopped talking and nervously stuck out her tongue.
Evelyn watched Zoby cut up, barely suppressing a laugh as she caught all her goofy shenanigans. Then, her gaze shifted to the guy standing at the door-sure enough, this had to be the big brother Zoey had mentioned.
Felix was decked out in a crisp black suit, sharp features setting lim apart from Zoey’s more approachable look. The guy seemed to emit a ‘stay away vibe, and even while trading jabs with Zoey, his face was a blank slate, He was the epitome of
restraint
Evelyn couldn’t help but think ‘ascetic’ was an understatement for Felix. The dude seemed totally devoid of any wants or needs, almost robotic in his demeanor.
“Ms. Brin, if my sister’s been less than a perfect host, I’m sorry about that. Felix’s voice was steady as he stood in the doorway, his expression unreadable. After he spoke, he might as well have been a statue, so still and silent.
“Ah. I really appreciate Zoey’s help, Sorry for any inconvenience caused.” Evelyn sat on the bed, quickly shaking her head. She felt quite awkward.
