Chapter 264
Evelyn Jewelry was only 15 minutes away if Colin turned around at the front intersection
“Go home,” Caleb responded coldly without looking away from the magazine as if he hadn’t listened to what was reported on the radio just now.
His tone conveyed a firmness that made it impossible to change his mind. Colin refrained from saying anything more. He took a different route and drove Caleb home.
“Mom, why are you still up so late? Staying up late is not good for your health. Didn’t Dad tell you before?” When Caleb got home, he found his mother sitting on the couch with a worried look. He became concerned and wondered what had happened to her, a frown appearing on his usually serious face.
“I heard Evelyn Jewelry is in trouble and then sent someone to find out what was going on. I saw a lot of reporters. surrounding her company today. How is Evelyn doing? Have you visited her?”
Jasmine’s phone screen displayed news. Apparently, she had just browsed some news that worried her.
“Some reporters purposefully write exaggerating headlines to create mystery. It’s completely untrue. She is okay. Don’t worry.”
Caleb didn’t know how to explain it to his mother but tried to get his mother not to dwell on it.
He didn’t want to lie to his mother. Besides, his mother got along well with Evelyn, so if she called Evelyn, she would find
out the truth
“I always trust you. Evelyn took care of you when you were in the hospital. Now that something happened to Evelyn, you can’t just sit there and do nothing. Jasmine spoke firmly with a frown.
“You seem to be very fond of her. Do you really want her to be your daughter–in–law?”
Caleb knew that his mother had been protective of Evelyn. She always mentioned Evelyn, and he had gotten used to it. “Of course, that would be best. But I don’t know if my son is lucky enough to marry such a good woman.”
Jasmine glared at him for fear that her son would miss such a perfect woman. She felt warm thinking of Evelyn’s kindness and consideration.
“Everyone’s life path is unique. Don’t strive to obtain what isn’t intended for you. Don’t you remember this old saying? I will end up with her if it’s meant to be. You really don’t have to think so much.”
Caleb had to bring up the old sayings as he had nothing else to say
“Spend more time with her when you are free. Women are soft–hearted, Evelyn will be moved as long as you show her that you are sincere.” Jasmine kept trying to persuade him.
“Take it easy. I will take her out to have dinner with you in a few days after I tend to some matters in the company.”
Caleb felt uneasy thinking of Evelyn.
You two young people can have dinner together. I don’t want to be a third wheel. It’s late. We should go to sleep. Jasmine said nothing more after noticing her son’s fatigue. They returned to their rooms to sleep, respectively.
