The big guy was under Caleb’s boot, squirming and hollering for mercy when Caleb’s foot hovered over his lower half..
Around them, people acted like they heard nothing, stuffing their cars and turning away. This big guy was known to roll with Julius, getting into all kinds of trouble Onlookers didn’t want to mess with that.
Caleb didn’t even blink at the chaos. He kept throwing punches and kicks until the goon was out cold. That was when Caleb finally cooled off and pulled Evelyn, whose mind was still reeling from the chaos, away from the scene.
The night was cool, and the air was thick with the smell of booze.
Evelyn glanced at the hand gripping hers and tried to pull free, but the grip just got tighter.
She winced, which caught Caleb off guard, making him let go quickly. His face, though, stayed all frosty and unreadable.
Evelyn was having trouble making sense of the whole wild day. She shot a cold look at Caleb and fired off. “Caleb? What’s your angle here? What are you trying to do?”
“My angle. Caleb said, almost blank as he looked back at her. For a moment, even he wasn’t sure what he was up to.
He’d planned to take Ava home, but halfway, he turned around on his own. Standing back, with a drink, he watched Evelyn crying by a wall, his mind a bit foggy from the drinking.
When he saw the large man h**le Evelyn, something snapped in Caleb. It was like someone was messing with something that belonged to him. So, he jumped in to save her.

with the cool wind blowing, he found himself at a loss, unsure what he wanted next.
Evelyn was staring at Caleb, who seemed totally out of it, when suddenly, she got scooped up in a massive bear hug.
She stiffened, and when Caleb tried to spin her around for a kiss, she ducked her head just in time.
Staring him down, Evelyn asked, “Do you even know who I am?
Caleb was getting annoyed. He didn’t know what was going on with himself. While she was talking, all he wanted was to kiss her quiet, but she pushed him away, making him even madder.
Caleb’s hold on her hand got tighter, and his eyes filled with anger.
“Evelyn, you want a baby, right? Let’s go make one now! You’re only having my baby!”
Suddenly, he was pulling her toward the hotel. Evelyn went from shocked to furious in a heartbeat.
She yanked her hand away and yelled, ‘Caleb, what the heck are you doing?! You were the one who wanted a divorce+What’s your deal now?”
Caleb didn’t say a word, just tried to drag her back, until Evelyn slapped him hard, leaving him touching a bl**y lip.
She took off fast, a guy in a sharp suit following her.
Calebs watched all this, stood there by himself for a long while, and then walked away
“Oh, Caleb! What happened to your fate?!
Ava caught up to hum, saw the red mark, and put two and two together, sourly saying “Evelyn hat you, right? That b****h”
She blurted it out without thinking and then looked at Caleb, worried. She should ve been-after a long look, he just left
