“Why bother talking to someone who’s not worth our time?”
Caleb’s irritation grew as Ava sobbed. He knew this mess would have started if she hadn’t picked a fight with Evelyn. He glared at Ava, who had finally stopped crying and was now just shuddering with quiet sobs.
Seeing Evelyn’s icy look, Caleb didn’t waste any more time. He grabbed Ava and headed out.
Aron watched from behind Evelyn, silent as she kept her gaze on Caleb and Ava walking away.
Sighing, he was about to hug her when she spoke up with her head bowed, “Aron, I think I need to be alone right now.”
Taken aback. Aron gazed at her and replied with a nod, “Okay, call me if you need anything”
Evelyn watched Caleb disappear, feeling a sharp sting in her heart.
She mused silently. Caleb, can’t you see, or are you just ignoring the truth? Ava’s act is so obvious, and still. you play the fool. I’m such a fool to spend those five years with you.
She scoffed at her own naivety, leaning on the wall for support, her tears slipping down.
This somehow made Evelyn even more striking, drawing the attention of some onlookers. After a quick, shared glance, they headed over to her with their drinks in hand
She felt the approach of strangers and looked up to see a group of foreigners coming close.
“Hey there, pretty lady, can we join you?” asked one, his tone respectful.
Evelyn sized them up warily but managed a small smile. “Sure, hello,”
Im sorry to see you so upset,” he said, “It’s tough watching someone as lovely as you go through a hard time-
Before he could continue, another voice cut in, “You shouldn’t waste your time on a guy like him.”
The first man turned, annoyed, but shut up quickly when he saw it was one of Julius’s crew, tough enough to take on Irinland’s biggest weapon sellers. He stepped back, knowing when to back down.
This burly man, with a thick accent, hinted crassly that Evelyn would be better off without her current troubles. His words were course, suggesting she was just a plaything for others, and that life with him would be blissful.
As this man gave Evelyn an inappropriate once-over, the rest of the group sensed trouble brewing and quietly backed away.
Evelyn was frowning big time, trying to dodge this guy’s attention and hoping to spot Aron. But out of the blue, the dude grabbed her tight, thinking he could just whisk her away.
Back off! What are you doing?!” Evelyn cried out.
With this creep’s hands on her waist, fear kicked in Aron guy like they respected him or were scared of him.

Evelyn spun around in surprise and caught a glimpse of Caleb with his boot pressing on the guy’s chest, grinding it in a bit His eyes were fierce, and he was downright radiating meiace.
