When they were talking. Evelyn heard a familiar voice behind her ears.
“Are you guys talking about me? Zoey appeared with a sparkler in hand, her smile blooming like a flower. Evelyn and Aron exchanged a knowing look and then smiled.
Far from being annoyed at their exchange, Zoey had a laissez-faire attitude; yet, she couldn’t resist a playful jab. “Aron, you always take Evelyn’s side. It’s like your whole mood lifted the moment she woke up.” Her words were no accident; they were intentional.
At that remark, a fleeting look of embarrassment crossed Evelyn’s face, then vanished as if nothing had happened. She retorted with a jest, “Just because we shared a laugh, you think he’s taking my side? Besides, didn’t we order mostly your favorite dishes?”
Knowing exactly when to stop, Zoey giggled, Tm just kidding. Coming in here to both of you smiling at me-of course. I know the best person here for me is you, Evelyn. You made me the ambassador of your brand
Pretending to be upset. Aron clicked his tongue in mock dismay. “Some people sure know how to bite the hand that feeds them. I wonder who ordered all the dishes on this table? Said they’d help, but all they did was toss a few lettuce leaves before running off to play with fireworks.”
Zoey played along perfectly. “Evelyn, look at Aron getting all jealous like a little kid. She then turned to Aron. “It’s not like this table is filled with only my favorite dishes. There’re yours too, Evelyn Plus, me stepping out to handle the fireworks was a decoy-the real deal was to let you express your gratitude to the and Evelyn. If I didn’t step out, how would you have shown your gratitude, huh, Aron?”
Evelyn’s smile never left her face; she was entirely disarmed by Zoey’s silver tongue. In the villa, the trio chatted and laughed in perfect harmony. After a while, the three of them happily finished their dinner.
Evelyn was about to take the medicine bottle from her bag when she was talking and laughing with Zoey. The atmosphere was so pleasant that she ate more food unconsciously than usual without noticing it. Aron had already brought her bag to her. Seeing this, Evelyn was a little stunned. She took the bag and was about to open the bottle when Aron told her that he would open it.
“What kind of medicine are you taking, Evelyn?” asked Zoey, trying to figure out what was going on. As soon as she stood up. she saw Aron pour the pills out of the bottle and put the bottle back. Zoey naturally sensed that the atmosphere at this time was a bit strange.
“I have had a stomachache recently. I’m afraid that I will vomit after eating too much, so I have to take medicine recently,” Evelyn naturally saw through what was on Zoey’s mind. She said unhurriedly to set Zoey’s mind at rest
“Will you recover after taking the medicine?” Zoey asked subconsciously. A casual remark sounded significant to a suspicious listener. Both Evelyn’s and Aron’s hearts skipped a beat. Both of the two knew that it was just a drug that could suppress the disease.
But Evelyn still said calmly, “Of course, or why should we take medicine when we are sick?” As she spoke, Evelyn took the glass of water from Aron.
