The sound of a beer bottle clinking against the floor broke the silence as one guy on the sofa cracked one eye open to look, i smirk flicking across his face. It was like he could see a woman carefully picking up that bottle and flashing him a big smile carefully. “Caleb, you can’t just drink away your troubles. Forget about me, but think about our kid, alright?”

“Our baby’s not here anymore…and I’m out too. Caleb, I hope you find happiness in the rest of your life.
He reached out for her, but she was fading away. When he looked at his hand, he was holding some official–looking papers.
“Ms. Brin said to tell you she wishes you find happiness in the rest of your life.
He fumed inside. Find happiness in the rest of my life! Who does she think she is?”
He was clenching those papers tight; the big bold “Divorce Agreement hurt to look at.
In a flash of anger, he tossed them, and they landed in a puddle of spilled drink, soaking up the mess.
The butler held back before picking up the soggy papers, but then he felt Caleb’s eyes drilling into him. “Mr. Mercer, Ms. Davenport called. She’s flying back in today and hopes you’ll swing by the airport.” While he spoke, the phone buzzed–it was Arm. He handed it over to Caleb and split.
Caleb gulped some water, trying to shake off the buzz from the booze.
“Caleb, my gig’s wrapped up, and I’m stuck at the airport. Where ya at?“s
“Avy. So, there’s a bit of a crisis at the office, and I’ve gotta send my assistant to pick you up, okay?”
Ava was pacing in the airport, mask and hat on, thinking about the figure she spotted back in Romaine. Annoyance flashed in her eyes. She’d skipped out on her fans to get back to Clusia ahead of schedule, only for Caleb to bail on her but he refused her. Again! Ever since Evelyn took off. Caleb, who used to listen to Ava all the time, had been all about excuses when it came to hanging out with Ava. But she wasn’t about to throw in the towel. With a hint of whining in her voice, she said, “Hey Caleb, what gives? It feels like forever since we hung out. You gonna come see me or what?”
Caleb was seconds from ending the call, totally bugged, but he stopped cold when he saw “Avy” on the caller ID. That was his girl, the one he was all about. Why the heck was he trying to ditch her call? He took a swig of his drink, took a deep breath to chill out, and said in a gentle tone, “Look, Avy, I’m sorry, alright Work’s been nuts. But I promise, I’ll be there with you
