Chapter 75
“The laptop wasn’t hacked for long, and only a few files were taken. But I’ll need to run some data recovery to discover what exactly was taken. That might take a
bit of time
Evan motioned for Rhett to hand over his phone and transferred the thesis report to his device before looking at Lama. “I’ll return your laptop tomorrow. Is that
Luna agreed without hesitation, “Of course. Thank you, Evan, It’s getting late. Should we go eat?
“Let’s go! It’s time for food“Suzie tossed her water damaged laptop to Rhett “See if this thing’s salvageable,”
“The motherboard’s fried from the water damage Tran clean it up when we get back. It should be fixable.” Rhett turned his head to look at Luna as he spoke. Luna’s eyes lit up, “Wow, I didn’t expect you to be this good, too, Rhett!”
Rhett smiled slightly. “I’m not as good as Evan, I’ve never really studied it in depth”
Evan gave him a strange look before glancing at Luna. He was utterly baffled. Why was he being compared all of a sudden
Jade brought up the idea of asking Evan to help track down the form post authors while they were on their way to the restaurant.
“From the screenshots, it looks like all the posts are trashing Luma. Are you trying to find out who’s behind this? Evan frowned deeply. “These comments are disgusting_Are they trying to ruin her reputation and force her off campus?
“Leave it to me. I’ll help you track down these keyboard warriors and expose them so that they won’t dare to stir up trouble online again!”
Jade hadn’t expected him to agree so readily. He even looked a bit righteously indignant about it. Then again, he had offered to help without hesitation when Luna asked for help cleaning her laptop.
No wonder he had been voted the campus heartthrob. Not only did he have good looks, but he also had a good heart. She really was lucky to be his friend. They were friends, night?
Jade still felt a little uncertain. However, that uncertainty was soon replaced by a strong sense of contrast. People really were so different from one another. Wyatt had also been featured on the campus website as one of the top male students. One was the campus heartthrob, while the other was the standout in his department, and their vote counts weren’t far apart.
However, the things they said were like day and night. They weren’t even comparable on the same level.
Jade still couldn’t understand how she had been so utterly blinded to have liked him for such a long time. If it weren’t for Luna, who knew how much longer she would have remained deceived by his false reputation and misleading rumors?
“What are you thinking about?” Evan leaned in a bit closer to her, his attractive eyes blinking mischievously, like he was trying to charın her on purp
purpose.
Jade’s cheeks flushed, and she instinctively took a step back. “It’s… It’s nothing. Thank you, Evan. But you don’t need to go as far as exposing them. It’s enough for us to know who they are.”
“Alnght” Evan’s eyes dimuned slightly. He looked a bit disappointed. Was he not charismatic enough? Why did it feel like she was deliberately avoiding him?
“Do you guys have some sort of plan? Do you need my help?” He straightened up again and regained his composure.
Jane patted her chest lightly. She could finally breathe normally. “We do have a plan, but we’re good for now.”
“Just let me know if you ever need anything,” he said with a friendly smile “After all, we’re teammates and friends now.”
Jade’s mood brightened instantly. It was true that being around friendly people made her feel calmer. “Got it. I won’t hold back, Evan”
The moral ended on a happy note for everyone until a hiccup happened when it was time to pay
“Rhett, didn’t we agree that I was paying?” Luna asked.
Rhett lifted his hand and gently tapped her on the head. “You paid last time. “Euctly!” Suzie then tugged Luna toward the entrance of the restaurant
