Chapter 70
Then, Suzie ran in Rhett’s direction,
–
“Suzie is really interesting Luna, you’re lucky. Akind look in someone’s eyes reveals their true nature. I believe they both care for you. Go on. I’m heading back to the dorm.” Jade smiled and squeezed Luna’s hand gently.
Luna nodded, “Think it over again about Wyatt. I know it’s a bit harsh, but you saw his attitude, Don’t waste any more time on him, okay?”
“Got it.” Jade waved at her.
Luna wanted to say more but didn’t know how to put it. In her previous life, she had seen how devastated Jade was after Wyatt got married.
She understood that Jade’s feelings for Wyatt ran deep and couldn’t be easily changed with harsh words or accusations. It would take time.
Suzie caught up to Rhett and tugged at his sleeve with a mischievous prin. “Hey, Rhett, don’t tell me you’ve got a thing for Jade. Planning to shoot your shot?”
“Go eat some walnuts” Rhett shot her a look like you had seriously lost it
Suzie smacked his arm. “What’s that supposed to mean? Are you calling me dumb? Come on! With the way you were acting just now, anyone would get the wrong idea. Not just me. Luna and Jade probably think the same.”
“They’re not as nosy as you are. Do you still remember Evan?” Rhett brushed her hand off his sleeve.
Suzie exclaimed, “Oh, he likes Jade?”
Rhett shot her a cold look and replied, “I asked him for help before, but he kept saying he was too busy.”
Suzie burst out laughing. “So, now you’re planning to seduce her for him? If Luna finds out…”
“What did I even do?” Rhett replied innocently. He was too good at pretending.
Suzie was joyful. “Nah, you just played the good guy for once. Honestly, our campus heartthrob has so much more to offer than Wyatt. That guy is just a jerk and truly doesn’t deserve Jade’s affection.”
That attemoon, the lab’s cabinets and desks were delivered. Rhett organized a few people to help set everything up, while Suzie and Luna grabbed some cloths and mops and gave the place a good clean.
Not long after, the equipment started arriving one by one. While they were moving the equipment into the lab, there was a little incident.
At the entrance of the lab, Wilson was just about to head upstairs when he ran into Erin, who had come by to check on everything
he dean and see if
Wilson paused mid–step toward the elevator. “Professor Wilder! Why did you choose a lab on the first floor? Would you like me to speak with the you can relocate it upstairs?”
Erin looked at him like he’d just cracked the world’s worst joke. “This entire research building was funded by Wilder Group. You really think I need you to pull strings with the dean over which lab I use? Or… You think you’ve got a shot just because my dad passed?”
He had been keeping his distance for so long. Suddenly, he went up to her and acted like a fool. He must have an ill intention.
Wilson felt embarrassed. “I was at Mr. Wilder Sendor’s funeral. He was my mentor. Whatever I’ve achieved today, Lowe it to his guidance. I’ll never forget that. But it seems like you’ve got the wrong idea about me. I would’ve gone in to say goodbye to him if I hadn’t been stopped.”
Erin hadn’t seen Wilson at the funeral. She’d assumed he had enough self–awareness to stay away. But clearly, someone must’ve stopped him at the entrance.
That was a relief. It spared Wanda from unnecessary stress.
“Whoever kept you out was very thoughtful. I should thank them properly someday.” Erin said.
