Suzie seemed more elated than Luna to know that she’d been accepted.
“That’s great! I finally have someone to keep me company. You have no idea how depressing it is to look at Rhett’s cold face all day,” she said as she dragged Luna toward the hospital’s temporary dorm.
“The dorm is arranged by the hospital for interns. I’m the only one in my room. It’s a bunk bed, and all the bedding is ready. I have clean sheets and covers, so I’ll help you change them later.
“The professor will be doing consultations at the hospital these couple of days. To gain
experience, we’ll be following her around. If you don’t have classes, you should stick with us as much as possible.
“Oh right, what’s your major? Have you finished your courses? Why aren’t you interning in your original field?”
Suzie’s question reminded Luna of Wilson and her seniors. But instead of feeling sad, she felt joy for having taken this new step.
She had been reborn to break away from the tragedy of her past life, and switching her major was the first step in that direction.
Suzie’s warmth and friendliness eased Luna’s anxiety and awkwardness. “My major was cell biology, and my mentor was Wilson Hanley. He has plenty of interns.”
Though Suzie was warm, she knew where to draw the line and didn’t press further. “True. Rather than be invisible in Professor Hanley’s team, you’re better off being a core member here. Professor Wilder has fewer students, so she can give attention to each of us. You definitely made the right choice.”
“Yeah!” Luna smiled and felt unexpectedly happy
As they spoke, they soon arrived at the dorm. Suzie then dragged Luna out for dinner after helping her settle in.
They went to the hospital’s cafeteria. On the way, Luna texted her dorm mate, Nicole Dillon, and told her that she’d be staying at the hospital for a couple of days and to not expect her back at the dorm.
Just as she was about to turn her phone off, she received a call–it was from Wyatt!
Upon seeing that name, Luna’s eyes remained completely calm. Her expression was indifferent as she muted her phone and tossed it into her bag.
“Why aren’t you picking up?” Suzie glanced overht her.
Luna smiled. “It’s nothing important. Come on, let’s eat.”
Wyatt meant absolutely nothing compared to food.
Outside the female dorm at the medical school, Wyatt stared at the darkened phone screen with a gloomy expression. “She didn’t pick up.”
“Luma’s getting more out of line. She doesn’t even answer Wyatt’s calls anymore. What’s she thinking?

“That’s enough, Ethan. Luna isn’t like that. She apologized to Mia and was punished, so you shouldn’t speak of her like that,” Russell snapped, visibly annoyed.
Ethan bristled. “Why shouldn’t I? I was being kind when I went to the resource center to help. her today. All I did was suggest that she apologize to Wyatt, and she gave me attitude and walked off. She wouldn’t even finish organizing the materials.
“If I hadn’t been worried that she’d get punished by the professor again, I wouldn’t have asked you all to talk to her. Now, she won’t even answer her phone!”
Ethan’s words silenced the group. Their expressions turned sour, and feelings of blame toward Luna began to creep in.
“I’ll call her dorm.” Kevin suggested as he whipped out his phone.
However, the call ended quickly, and he looked toward Ethan with a grim face. “You said Luna stormed off in anger, but didn’t you realize she was sick?”
“What’s going on?” Wyatt’s dark expression relaxed slightly.
Kevin sighed. “Her dorm mate said she went to the hospital after coming back and seemed to be getting admitted. She won’t be back anytime soon.”
“Could she be faking it? She looked fine when I saw her this afternoon.” Ethan was clearly suspicious.
Russell glared at him. “Are you saying that she faked it, got a doctor on it, and arranged to be admitted?”
“Who knows if she’s really in the hospital? Why would she ignore our calls then?” Ethan was getting worked up.
Wyatt scanned the few of them and chimed in, “Enough. Lana has always been frugal and has few friends in Velmora. If she’s not staying at the dorm, she’s probably been admitted to the hospital
“Kevin, find out which hospital she’s in. We’ll check on her. How could she have suddenly fallen sick?”
Kevin was about to leave when Trevor stopped him and said, “We promised Mia we’d have dinner with her tonight. She just came back and is ally unstable. The professor said she shouldn’t be stressed. If we all visit Lama…!
He didn’t get to finish his sentence before Wyatt cut in and said, “You’re right. We made a promise to Mia, and we should keep our word. Let’s put Luna aside since she knows how to take care of herself. We don’t have to worry too much.”
Russell’s expression darkened slightly at his words. “What about the resource center? Now that she’s in the hospital, we don’t know when she’ll be done organizing. The professor won’t be happy if work is delayed.”
Wyatt rubbed his temples and said, “She’s already upset the professor. If she delays the
research too, she might be kicked out of the tearn
“She’s been doing research with us for years. We’re in sync, and I don’t want her to leave now. Let’s help out in the resourc center.”
The group exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.

Luna had no idea that the exhausting work that had ruined her stomach in her past life was now being taken on by Wyatt and the others.

Luna had been foolish back then. She believed that it was a misunderstanding and had worked hard to change her image until they finally sent her to prison.
