Chapter 20
Typical of Suzie, she answered Luna’s question coolly and generously, going straight to the point and keeping nothing to herself. She’d even brought along her old notebooks for Luna.
Luna nearly burst into tears of gratitude when she held Suzie’s dated notebook with curled edges.
She thought that she had lost the ability for emotions after her rebirth–that she could remain stoic no matter what happened. After witnessing the trials of life and the reality of human nature, her heart was broken and still.
But now, she realized that that was not true. She could still be touched by kindness, and she still believed in the good in this world.
In her past life, she had chased after sincerity but never received any. She became an orphan when she was around five or six years old. After that, she grew up roaming around the village and surviving on scrap from other families.
No one liked her. Everyone saw her as a burden and wished for her to leave the village.
The entire village soon put together her education funds, and Luna studied hard because she feared she would let them down. All she could think of was to leave the village as soon as possible!
She felt very lucky when she had met Wyatt and the She cherished their friendship, and she tried hard to catch to hinder their

to hinder their progress.
She was nice to them and agreed to almost every request they made, thinking that they would like her and see her as family if she were obedient and talented enough.
It was all because she saw them as her older brothers! She wanted a family so badly.
Alas, her sincerity was not always reciprocated.
Luna gently flattened the curled edges of Suzie’s old notebook, her lashes trembling. “Suzie, aren’t you worried that Professor Wilder might favor me over you if you teach me everything you know?”
“Well, I certainly hope that day comes faster. You’d better win Professor Wilder’s affection. That’ll take some pressure off me!” Chuckling, Suzie patted Luna on the head.
Then, she added, “You silly thing! We’re a team The better you become, the easier life gets fór me. It’s a good thing! I’m only worried that am not a good teacher and might slow you down!”
“Not at all!” Tears further welled up in Luna’s eyes. “You’re a great teacher!”
People could be so different from one another. Not everyone was like her seniors in Wilson’s

team.
In her past life, Kevin had only recommended a few books to her when she’d taken cell biology classes. She’d nearly accepted his love confession because she’d been so touched by what seemed like annotations in his books.
After that, she’d worked day and night to research for Kevin and even attended non–major classes for him. She completed an entire book of notes for his graduate studies exam!
Upon thinking back, Kevin must have been keeping information from her by giving her the books instead of his notes.
A few years after that, he would still repeatedly bring up that incident. It was a way of reminding Luna of his contribution to all her success–she needed to be grateful to him.
But Luna had returned his favor many times. She owed them nothing!
When they left the library at noon, Luna wanted to buy Suzie lunch.
“Forget about it! Save your money for yourself. Ill go home for lunch.” Suzie waved at her. “I don’t have that many classes now. Just come to me if you have questions. If you’re too busy, just text me.
“If I don’t reply, you can go to Rhett. He’s more of an expert in acupuncture than I am. He might come across as cold, but he’s easygoing. You’ll know as you spend more time with him!”
Luna obediently nodded. She felt as if she had found a new home.
“You’re so deferential. It’s not good–you’ll get bullied easily!” Suzie pinched her cheek again. “Better stay aloof. You’re cooler that way.”
Luna was amused. “Yeah! I’ll listen to you!”
“I told you not to be so obedient!” Suzie waved at her again. “Alright now. I really have to go. You go have lunch!”
But Luna ran after her and asked, “Suzie, does our team plan to participate in the university’s Medical Innovation Competition?”
