Suzle approached Lama and said, “Yes, that’s them. This medical consultation was a unique case. We’re forming a research team because of it,
“I guess Professor Holbeck and Professor Johnson are like our technical support. You must have taken pharmacology courses, but I’m sure you’ve never learned clinical medicine. If you have any questions during the research, you can go to Professor Holbeck.”
“That’s awesome!” Luma looked delighted, as if she had gotten a windfall. “I feel like I won two more mentors! How lucky am 1?”
Erin merrily chuckled. “It’s too early to celebrate, I only made the exception of picking you for the team because we’re short of people, and it so happens that you major in cell biology.
“But if you fail my assessment, I still won’t approve of your internship records.”
“I will surely pass your assessment.” Luna was confident in her own choice.
Erin then got up to leave. “Come on. I’ll show you around our research lab.”
Suzie held the documents and trotted behind Erin. However, just as Luna was about to leave with them, Rhett grabbed her by the sleeve.
He warned, “Remember your promise. If you dare betray Professor Wilder, I have my way of getting you blacklisted from this industry!!
“Oh, is that all you can do?” Luna pulled back. “If anyone betrays me, I’ll make their lives hell!
Taken aback, Rhett watched Luna run off before breaking into laughter. It felt like he had discovered a shocking secret!
Luna returned to campus the next day.
After she entered her dorm, Nicole grabbed her and started chatting about the events that had happened on campus over the past few days.
“Did you fight with Wyatt and the others? There are rumors on the school’s online forum about you quitting Professor Hanley’s research team.”
Luna shook her head. “No, I didn’t fight with them, but it’s true that I’ve quit the research tearn.”
Nicole gasped in shock. “Huh? People break their necks to land a spot in Professor Hanley’s team, but you quit just like that? What were you thinking?”
Luna smiled but did not offer an explanation. “Don’t you have a class later? You should get
going now, or you’ll be late.‘
“You have a class too, don’t you?” Nicole packed her stuff while dragging Luna out of the dorm. “Let’s talk on our way to class.”
However, Luna moved Nicole’s hand aside. “I won’t attend those classes anymore. I’ve switched my major.”
Right now, Luna had no classes to attend.
Nicole was shell–shocked. “What did you say? Why are you switching majors in your senior year? Don’t you want to graduate?
“Of course I do!” Luna patted her backpack. “That’s why I decided to self–study and sit for the finals at the end of the semester.”
To Luna, it didn’t matter whether or not she had accumulated enough course credits. If she passed the finals, she would’ve earned them anyway. Her graduation wouldn’t be affected.
Since class was about to start, Nicole didn’t have time to chat with Luna. She simply exclaimed, “You daredevil! You have my respect!
After everyone in the dorm left, Luna finally pulled out the books on acupuncture. They’d been recommended to her by Suzie and ranged from beginner to advanced level.
Suzie, worried that Luna might understand the materials, even shared the recordings from Erin’s classes with Luna for free.
Luna was immensely touched by Suzie’s generosity. When she’d first signed up for Wilson’s class, she was confused at times and needed to replay class recordings, but she couldn’t get her hands on them.
She’d asked Wilson for those recordings in private, but it was only to be dressed down. In his own words, he had chastised her, “Do you know how precious my class recordings are? You don’t get to watch them on demand!
“Who do you think you are, spacing out in class and asking me for recordings after class? Pay for them if you care to learn! Maybe then you’ll appreciate my lessons.” Wilson even framed his action by saying it was for their own good.
Luna couldn’t believe that she’d been so naive in ber past life to have believed in Wilson’s
nonsense.
Upon looking back, Wilson’s actions were clearly driven by greed. He had abandoned the principles of a true educator in his pursuit of money, showing little concern for addressing his students‘ questions.
