Chapter 100
Luna was struck so hard that her face tumed to the side, and her head buzzed:
mattress.
For a moment, she couldn’t hear anything. All she knew was that they dragged her back to the front of the warehouse and threw her onto the formatt
Then, they began arguing.
Luna screamed, and their actions paused for a moment.
Seizing the opportunity, she ran, pulling out a silver needle and pressing it to her neck. “Don’t come any closer. If you do, I’ll kill myself right here.
“I know you’re just doing this for money and don’t want to kill me, but if Tafie, you’ll never escape. How much did the other party pay you? Tell me the amount, and I’ll give you double.”
Someone spoke, but she couldn’t hear them. She only kept her eyes locked on their movements, tense.
“Ash, this woman’s too tough. Maybe we should just let her go. I don’t want things to get out of hand. Do you think she’s telling the truth about paying us? Should
we test it?”
They began arguing again, this time much louder, even coming to blows.
Luna still couldn’t hear what they were saving. Her head was pounding more and more, and soon, she wouldn’t be able to keep her eyes open.
David lunged at her, snatching the silverneedle from her hand and ripping at her clothes. “I’m going to take you down today since you stabbed me with a needle!”
Luna’s head slammed into the wall, and she lost consciousness once more.
‘Meanwhile, sirens sounded not far away.
When Luna woke up again, she was lying in a hospital bed. As she opened her eyes, she saw the faces of Erin and Rhett.
“Professor Wilder, Rhett,” she murmured, struggling to sit up, but Erin pressed her back down onto the bed.
“Stay down. The doctor said you have a mild concussion. You shouldn’t get up just yet.”
Luna nodded. She could hear them now. However, her face and head still ached faintly.
“Did the police catch them?” she asked. She hadn’t meant to ask, but once she did, Erin’s and Rhett’s expressions darkened.
Rhett gritted his teeth. “Yes, they were caught. None of them got away.”
“These people didn’t do this on a whim. They were hired.” Luna had already realized the men had been sent by Mia when she saw David.
The reason she had threatened to all herself wasn’t just to take a gamble but because she knew they truly didn’t dare to kill her.
As long as she stayed alive, the person who hired them would ensure their safety. On the other hand, it she died, they would never get away with it.
After all, if it hadn’t been for jade jumping off the building in Luna’s previous life, causing a death, they wouldn’t have been caught so quickly, made the headlines, and had their photos exposed by the media.
In the end, all five men were sentenced to death.
This time, since she had offended Mia first, and Mia had used those men to take revenge on her, Jade wouldn’t have to go through such terrifying things anymore.
Luna couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of reliet
“Poor thing. You must be traumatized. After going through such a terrifying ordeal, how can you still smile?” Erin commented with a heart full of pity, reaching out to put herhead.
Luna shook her head. “I’m tine, Professor Wilder. I’m smiling because they couldn’t hurt me, and I used the acupuncture technique you taught me. It worked perfectly! That man fell instantly!”
“You.” Erin’s usual indifferent demeanor softened, and she even had tears in her eyes. “What’s wrong with you? It’s time for you to rest, and you’re still thinking about this? Can’t you give your brain a break?”
Erin tucked the blanket around her. “Listen to me. Get some good rest. I’ll have Rhett handle everything. He’s already looked into those men’s backgrounds and knows how to talk to the police. Just sleep, okay?”
Luna had so many questions. How did Rhett manage to get information on those men’s backgrounds? And who had notified them to come to the hospital? She wanted to ask, but under Erin’s concerned gaze, she obediently closed her eyes.
