Chapter 61
“Are you serious? An asked in a low voice
Leon walked toward the adjacent private room, leaving behind a chilling remark”
Aaron couldn’t help but grin
“Alright, I’m on it.” He was more than eager to mess with Jeremiah
That jerk, Jeremiah, was about to get what was coming to him.
“Do look like I’mjoking?
Feeling a chill on the back of his neck, Jeremiah reached up and rubbed his head. He continued chatting with Victoria as if nothing had happened. “Are you still looking for a job?
“How do you know that? victoria was a little surprised
Jenemaah didn’t hide it “Susie told me.”
Aflicker of understanding flashed in Victoria’s eyes.
Unless it was something private between her and Susie, Susie tended to share most things with Jeremiah.
“Thappen to have a friend who’s hiring. Do you want to give it a try?” Jeremiah offered, eager to help
He had heard some things from Susie.
“It’s a company that just went public, but it’s decent.”
Victoria declined, saying, “It’s alright. I’ll take my time looking.”
“Don’t worry. You’ll go through the normal process. I’m not going to just get you in through connections,” Jeremiah reassured her.
“I’m just offering an opportunity. Whether or not you pass the interview depends on your own ability.”
“I’m not just being polite with you,” Victoria said honestly
Jeremiah was puzzled. “What do you mean?”
Her expression grew a little heavy. “Leon has been spreading word in the industry. If I join your friend’s company, I’ll be putting them in danger.”
“I’m not afraid of him,” Jeremiah said bluntly. “Or you could come work at my company, I’ll cover for you, no matter what tricks he pulls.
Victoria rejected the offer. She knew exactly how nathless Lean could be. If he targeted Jeremiah, the company might go under, or worse, end up in massive debt. Susie being sent abroad had been a warning. She didn’t want her friends to suffer because of her again.
“I handle the job search on my own. Don’t worry about it,” Victoria said.
Sering her resolve, Jeremiah knew there was no changing her mind. He decided to drop the subject for now and figure out another way to help her later.
on was transformed
Just as he was thinking this, the door to the private room opened. The stall started bringing in decorative props for the scene. In less than a minute, the room was into what looked like a romantic proposal setup.
Jeremiah and Victoria were completely baffled
Jeremiah turned to the restaurant manager, who was still directing the setup. “What’s going on?”
“Just adding a line ambiance to enhance your dining experience with Ms. Smith,” the manager sald seriously, giving him a knowing look. “Tajoy your meal.”
As the manager finished speaking, the food was served, and a walter poured wine into their glasses.
Jeremiah wanted to discuss private matters with victoria, so he signaled for the staff to leave them alone.
“Did you arrange this? Victoria asked, looking at the strangely decorated poom.
**No way,” Jeremiah replied quickly.“I came straight here after getting off the plane. Tonly picked this place because Susie said the food was decent. The manager must have too
much time on his hands.”
The restaurant manager froze at the door. The two supervisors holding flowers and a ring exchanged glances.
“Are we still delivering these?
“Will Mr. Quinn kick us out
They hesitated, glancing at the manager,
Stealing a glance toward the other private room, the manager made up his mind
I answered, “Deliver them!”
