Chapter 53
“Send me the list Leon finally said.
Aaron responded, “Got it.”
Then, he added, “And what about Victoria?
Before he could get an answer, his phone screen suddenly glitched. The rear camera activated on its own, followed by Leon’s calm and emotionless voice. “Point the camera inside. Don’t go in until I say so.”
Aaron was speechless.
Wouldn’t it have been easier to just ask for a video call? Did he really have to hack his phone?
At that moment, the private lounge was even more chaotic. As Wayne dragged Victoria inside, most of the men’s gazes locked on her.
“Come here!” Wayne roughly yanked her forward, pushing her toward the center. “Go pour some drinks for these gentlemen ”
“Mr. Smith, who’s this?” one of the men asked, his eyes scanning Victoria in a way that made her sin crawl
“My daughter, Victoria,” Wanne replied with a forced smile, his demeanor completely different. “She’ll drink with you all tonight. Thope this helps smooth our cooperation.” “Sure” Everyone laughed.
Victoria fiercely struggled out of Wayne’s grip, glaring at him with unfiltered hatred for the first time. “Are you insane?”
She had prepared herself for many things but never for this.
He was her tacher
Wayne struck her across the face, his expression twisted with maker. “You should be honored to drink with these gentlemen. Do you still think you’re Leon’s treasured wife?
A divorce with no financial settlement. Clearly, Leon had tossed her aside. He wouldn’t have left her with nothing if he had even the slightest regard for her.
“Leon Quigley?” Someone in the private lounge had their doubts, his voice now tinged with cancer. “s she the wife that Mr. Quigley cherishes so much?”
The moment the words left his mouth, the atmosphere in the lounge changed.
Everyone in their circle knew how possessive Lean was over his wife. A man once made a single offhand remark about her, only to have his company’s shares plummet the next day. After that, nothing in his business went right.
“She was his wife,” Wayne quickly clarified “They’re divorced now. There’s no need to worry about Leon’s retaliation.”
“Are you sure?”
“Of course Wasn’t there news about Mr. Quigley spending the night at Waterside Manor with another woman?*
“I thought that was just a rumor.”
“Without Mr. Quigley’s permission, which media outlet would dare publish something like that?
With just a few words, everyone immediately understood the situation. They realized the woman before them had fallen out of favor and was no longer the one Leon cherished. Without her former status, their gazes toward Victoria became completely unrestrained.
Victoria was still reeling from the slap
Growing up, Wayne had never spoken harshly to her, let alone laid a hand on her. But now, not only had he hit her, but he had dragged her into this disgusting setting, making him feel more like a stranger than ever before.
“What are you waiting for? Wayne barked, shoving her again. “Go pour them drinks!”
She bolted for the door. Before her fingers could reach the handle, however, Wayne yanked her back.
His expression was dark with fury, his voice dripping with malice. “Run again and I’ll break your legs.”
Victoria grabbed a bottle from the table and smashed it. Holding onto the jagged neck bottle, she pointed the sharp edge at him. “If you don’t let me leave right now, someone will
