Chapter 14 The Truth

Although I had never met Sean, I recalled staying at this hotel a few times.
When Grayson’s company was growing, I often showed up in public, playing the tole of a loving couple with him. I helped reach out to the wives of those rich businessmen to forge relationships.
There were a few times I drifted to sleep in the hotel’s guest room after I got drunk. I woke up in the same room every time, including that time when I accidentally got pregnant.

I clearly recalled someone gently caressing my leg as I drifted in and out of consciousness. Thinking it was Grayson, who had returned to the room, I laughingly kicked him to stop him from fooling around.
Alas, under the influence of alcohol, my brain turned into mush. After a few flirtatious push–and–pulls, I surrendered myself to him.
The passionate night left me extremely exhausted, but I only managed to fall asleep closer to dawn.
I woke up the next day in the hotel room and found myself alone. I called Grayson, but he refrained from discussing the affairs from last night. He even sounded distant. After a short chat, he hung up, claiming he had work.
I merely thought Grayson was busy with work. A month later, I brought him news of my pregnancy. While I anticipated the arrival of a new life, Grayson seemed extremely furious about it. He repeatedly convinced me that this was not the right time to have children, and he suggested that we plan for children after he reached a greater height in his career.
However, I insisted on keeping my son and even promised him I would take good care of our child.
After that, Olivia returned to the country, and I lost my son in a miscarriage. My son–a fetus–was quickly buried.
Back then, it did not seem odd to me, but after I put everything together along with Sean’s remark, I felt a chill in my body.
I had always known Grayson was a jerk, but I never thought he’d be so wretched.
Sean sat there, quietly taking in the changing expressions on my face. While holding onto the locket, he casually dropped another bomb on me.
“You might not know this, but Grayson Rockwell had a low sperm count. You were carrying my child.”
He reached out to place the locket chain on my hand, but I struggled against it.
I thought, “This is insane! How revolting!”
I tried my best to stomach the sickness and continued asking questions, “What do you want?”
A streak of madness flashed across his eyes. “Your husband, who did not love you, has died. If Olivia successfully bankrupts you, I can swoop in and help you like a knight in shining armor, taking you in. Isn’t that perfect?”
In a few words, Le succinctly revealed the reason behind Olivia’s recent moves.
“So, did you blackmail Olivia into doing this?”
My hands were tied At the same time, Sean started to draw closer. He inhaled sharply by my neck like a lunatic.
“I paid her. Don’t worry about it. I still love you the most.”
I mustered my energy to close the distance between us, much to his surprise. He wasn’t expecting me to be so proactive.
It took all my energy for me to get closer to his ear, whispering to him what I had bottled up for so long, “Die, you scumbag!”
Then, I kicked him in the crotch, sending him yelping in pain.
Reuben, who had been standing guard at the door and growing antsy, barged into the room with a group of men.
Sean tried to escape, but I kicked him in the back and made him trip.
We might have only slept together once, but the bond is there! Heidi, I really love you!”
I turned to Reuben and his men, who thoughtfully looked away.
Nodding in satisfaction, I kicked Sean in the chest. “Oh, you love me? Why don’t you tell that to the Grim Reaper?”
