“Come on, Janice. Just this once, for me, Kody said as he held her hand softly. His tone carried a subtle, almost imperceptible plea.
Janice met his earnest gaze and the refusal she had planned to voice suddenly got stuck in her throat. Perhaps she did need a drink to numb herself, event if just a little.
“Alright,” she finally agreed.
The bar was a cacophony of screeching guitars and pounding drums, the music drilling into her ears. A lot of people were dancing to the rhythm on the
dance floor
After downing a shot of hard liquor, Janice grabbed Kody’s hand and pulled him toward the dance floor.
The alcohol dulled her senses and amplified her suppressed emotions. She threw herself into the music, her body twisting and swaying wildly. Her long hair whipped around her like flames, vibrant and untamed.
“Hey, Janice, slow down” Kody stumbled after her, tugged along by her unrelenting grip. He wanted to intervene but hesitated, knowing his words would likely be drowned out by the blaring music
He was a bit uneasy when he saw the unrestrained smile on Janice’s face.
However, Janice didn’t care. Right now, all she wanted was to relax and to throw her worries away
She danced with increasing vigor, her movements bold and uninhibited. She quickly became the center of attention on the dance floor. People around her spontaneously made way for her, their eyes filled with amazement and admiration.
“Wow, she’s really something!”
“She dances so well. She’s practically a professional!
“She’s hot! I’d love to get to know her…”
When the music ended, Janice was still eager for more. She reached out to grab Kody’s arm, but a strong hand caught hers. She looked up with a hazy gaze and met Malcolm’s deep, unfathomable eyes.
“Malcolm!” Janice called out as she giggled drunkenly. “What are you doing here?”
“Come with me,” he said, ignoring her drunken ramblings. He grabbed her wrist and started to pull her away.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Janice asked as he dragged her along, stumbling on her feet. “I’m not done dancing yet!”
“Janice!” Kody called out. He hurried over upon seeing she was dragged away by Malcolm
Standing between the two of them, he shouted, “Let her go!”
Malcolm gave him a cold look and said firmly, “Kody, go back. There’s something I need to talk to her about.”
Kody stiffened his neck and replied with a firm tone, “I’m not leaving! I’ll be uneasy if I leave her with you!”
Malcolm’s eyes narrowed, and the atmosphere around him turned icy. Yet, his voice remained calm. “Kody, don’t forget my warning.”
Kody was stunned, and his expression turned grim.
Janice hiccupped, looking back and forth between the two men, completely confused. “W–What are you whispering about?”
Malcolm forced himself to suppress his anger and pulled Janice closer to him. He said coldly, “Janice, you’ve had too much to drink. I’ll take you home.”
Before Janice could react, Malcolm half–carried, half–dragged her out
“Het, let go of me! I can walk by myself!” Janice struggled, but she couldn’t break free from Malcolm’s grip.
Seeing this, Kody rushed forward and stood between them. “Malcolm, let her go!” If you keep this up, I won’t hesitate to do something about it!”
Malcolm gave him a cold glance and said with a hint of warning, “Kody, don’t forget about the demanding woman waiting for you at home. If you’re late, don’t blame me if she gets upset.”
Kody was stunned at his words.
Janice also stopped struggling and asked curiously, “What demanding woman? Kody, when did you get a girlfriend? Why didn’t I know anything about it?
Kody’s face turned beet red as he stammered, “N–No! I didn’t… Don’t listen to his nonsense!”
