Chapter 41
With tears in her eyes and her lower lip trembling, Reina looked utterly pitiful. “Dsl, it seems to me that Malcolm treats Janice differently.”
Garrett frowned. “What do you mean? How is it different
“I’m not sure either.” Reina paused, her hesitation piquing his curiosity even further
“Just tell me! It’s driving me crazy,” Garrett urged.
She cried. “Malcolm’s gaze toward her feels entirely different from how he looks at me. Dad, do you think he might be in love with her?”
Garrett was furious. “Nonsense! I know exactly what Janice is like. She always appears inapproachable. Who would actually be drawn to her? Plus, there’s absolutely no connection between her and Malcolm, How could anything like that ever happen?”
Reina had more to say, but Garrett cut her off. Waving his hand dismissively, he insisted, “It’s impossible. You’re just overthinking it. Don’t worry. I’ll help you get Malcolm back, and then we can find a way to move up your wedding date”
Reina was filled with joy upon hearing that and burst into laughter. She wrapped her arms around Garrett’s and said coquettishly, “Really? Dad, you’re the best!”
He affectionately tapped Reina’s nose. “Stop acting like a spoiled brat. Don’t dwell on it anymore and get to bed early.”
Early the next morning, Garrett arrived at Malcolm’s villa. He rubbed his hands and said with a bright smile, “Malcolm, I’m here to talk about your wedding with Reina”
Malcolm set the documents aside and asked calmly, “Wedding? Isn’t that already planned?“.
Garrett hesitated, taking in Malcolm’s expression. “It is, but considering the timing… both you and Reina don’t have much going on right now. Wouldn’t it be better to tie the knot sooner?”
Malcolm responded icily, “Mr. Ludwig, the wedding date was previously agreed upon by both families. It’s set for a year from now. There’s no reason to
rush.”
“That’s true, but-“Garrett attempted to convince him further, only to be cut off by Malcolm.
“I’ve consulted a fortune teller, and according to the horoscopes for Reina and me, the most favorable date for our wedding is exactly one year from now, “Malcolm lied without a hint of guilt
He added, “The fortune teller warned that if we marry before that date, it could adversely impact the financial fortunes of Gomez Corporation.”
Garrett recognized that Malcolm was merely fabricating an excuse, yet the thought of any harm befalling the Gomez family weighed heavily on him. The Ludwig family simply couldn’t bear the consequences. He felt distressed as he glanced at Malcolm, unsure of how to react for a moment.
“Mr. Ludwig, rest assured, I’ll provide you with a satisfying response about my marriage to the Ludwig family.” Malcolm intentionally stressed the phrase “the Ludwig family“.
However, Garrett was oblivious to it. He simply recognized that persuading Malcolm today was futile. “Since it’s been decided, I have nothing more to say. But don’t forget to spend some quality time with Reina. She can’t stop talking about you.”
“Alright,” Malcolm replied calmly, but it was obvious that he didn’t take it seriously.
Even though Garrett felt displeased, he didn’t allow it to reflect on his face.
In the evening, a slender figure blocked Janice as she was unlocking her car in Gomez Corporation’s underground parking lot. “Janice, let’s grab a cup of coffee together?” Reina offered a pleasant smile, but her voice was chillingly devoid of warmth.
