Chapter 39
Upon returning to the office, Malcolm noticed Janice at his desk, engrossed in some documents. As she leaned over, her shirt collar slipped, unveiling her graceful collarbone and a hint of soft skin that caught his eye with its allure.
“Janice, please don’t come to my office during work hours,” he exclaimed coldly, with a note of warning
Janice looked up calmly as if the woman who had been moaning underneath him the night before wasn’t her. She shut the file and slid it across the desk. She said professionally, “I’m here to discuss company matters.”
Malcolm frowned and suppressed his restlessness. He then sat at the desk and asked calmly, “What’s the matter?”
“I’ve discovered some significant issues with the “Timeless‘ beauty product line launched by Gomez Corporation some time ago. Upon thorough examination of its ingredient list, I discovered the inclusion of two contradictory medicinal ingredients.
“While this combination may offer a quick whitening and anti–wrinkle effect, prolonged use poses a serious risk of irreversible skin damage and even potential cancer.”
Malcolm grew serious. He didn’t involve himself in the company’s day–to–day operations, but he recognized that the “Timeless” series was their main product this year and generated significant profits. If Janice’s claims were true, the consequences could be huge.
“Are you sure?” he asked steadily, gazing sharply at Janice.
Janice gestured toward the documents spread out on the table. “I’ve gathered all the relevant research reports and supporting evidence into these files. Everything is here to review in detail.”
He remained silent. However, as he picked up the document and delved into its content, his expression grew increasingly grave.
She provided an extensive range of information, covering everything from ingredient analysis to clinical trial data. As he continued to read, the weight of the findings only heightened his concern.
Janice chose not to interrupt him and instead sat quietly by his side. She occasionally glanced over at his chiseled profile, feeling complicated. After a considerable pause, Malcolm closed the document and asked with a solemn tone, “What are your thoughts on this?”
“I have a preliminary plan to modify the product. It’ll greatly reduce the risk while maintaining its effectiveness.”
Then, she retrieved another document from her bag and handed it to him. “Here are the details.”
Malcolm read the document attentively, impressed by Janice’s clear and logical plan, which was evidently well–considered. He had to admit that she wasn’t only stunningly beautiful but also remarkably intelligent.
At that moment, the two were sitting closely together. His subtle scent of tobacco mingled with the rich aroma of men’s cologne wafted into Janice’s nostrils, evoking memories of their intimate night, causing a flush to rise on her cheeks. She shifted away, creating space between them quietly.
At that very instant, the office door was pushed open.
“Malcolm, I baked some pastries for you to try…” Reina entered the office with a gentle smile as she presented her delightful treats. But the moment her gaze landed on Janice, her smile quickly disappeared.
She couldn’t shake the disbelief that Janice was in Malcolm’s office. Her gaze was drawn to Janice’s slender neck, which bore a conspicuous red mark resembling a hickey
Her heart raced with jealousy as her pupils dilated in shock. That damn bitch! The idea that Malcolm had slept with Janice the night before gnawed at Reina’s mind.
