Chapter 31
Janice ignored the whispers of the wealthy ladies. She simply shot Reina a cold glare and then turned around to leave.
Reina stood frozen on the spot with a sour look on her face.
That damn Janice! How dare she threaten her!
A sinister glint flickered in Reina’s eyes. Since Janice had dared to show up at this banquet, then why not take advantage of the situation and ruin her reputation completely?
With this thought in mind, Reina quietly trailed behind Janice, plotting her next move.
As Janice rounded a corner in the hallway, she spotted a woman in a white gown swaying unsteadily on her feet. It looked as if she was about to collapse at any moment. Without a second thought, she quickly stepped forward to help her.
“Are you alright?” Janice asked in a worried voice.
The woman’s face and lips were completely pale. She weakly shook her head, unable to speak.
Janice frowned and reached out to check the woman’s pulse. Feeling the erratic thump of her heartbeat, she immediately sensed that something was
wrong.
“Janice, what do you think you’re doing?” Reina, who had finally caught up, said in displeasure…
Janice simply ignored her and took out a small set of silver needles from her bag. She then skillfully inserted them into a few acupuncture points on the woman’s body.
“Have you lost your mind? How dare you simply insert needles into people’s bodies? What it something goes wrong? Do you think you can bear the consequences?” Reina yelled, her eyes filled with malice. She couldn’t help but wish that Janice would mess up.
She had recognized the woman in front of Janice. She was Henry Reynolds‘ wife, Josephine Quigley.
Janice was completely unbothered by Reina’s provocation and remained focused on administering the needles.
As each needle was inserted, Josephine’s face slowly regained its color, and her breath gradually evened out.
Janice let out a sigh of relief. She carefully removed the needles and tucked them away. Turning to Josephine, she asked gently, “How are you feeling? Do you feel better?”
Josephine nodded and said hoarsely, “I feel much better now. Thank you, young lady
“It was nothing,” Janice replied with a smile. She then got up to fetch Josephine a glass of water.
Seeing the scene unfold, Reina quickly stepped forward and helped Josephine up. She asked in concern, “Are you alright, Mrs. Reynolds?”
Slightly taken aback, Josephine looked at Reina in slight confusion
Desperately trying to put on a caring act, Reina supported Josephine as she introduced herself, “Mrs. Reynolds, the woman you saw earlier was my sister, Janice Ludwig I’m Reina, the daughter of Garett Ludwig. Do you remember me? We met before at the charity gala.”
Josephine thought for a moment before she finally came to a realization. “Oh, I remember now! So you’re Mr. Ludwig’s daughter. I owe you both my
thanks.”
Hearing that Josephine recognized her, Reina was thrilled, yet she still maintained her composure. “It was nothing, Mrs. Reynolds. Let me help you to the lounge so you can rest.
Janice had just returned with a glass of water when she noticed the hallway completely empty. She looked around but couldn’t seem to find Josephine anywhere.
Could she have gone back already?
Just then, a staff member dressed in uniform approached her and said politely, “Good evening, Ms. Ludwig. A lady has asked me to escort you upstairs. She’s waiting for you.”
Janice was slightly confused, but upon thinking that Josephine might need her help, she followed the staff upstairs.
